ROLE SUMMARY:
As a Staff Software Development Engineer in Test, we want you to join our diverse, talented, and collaborative group, building large-scale client-side applications using modern micro-frontends and micro-services. We need your help to improve our existing testing frameworks and tooling (Cypress/Cucumber). We are looking for you to push for test modularity and establish quality gates for continuous integration and delivery. You will define the future vision of test automation for our group, evangelizing that vision across our teams. You will partner with other software engineers and product managers to define our customer-facing and internal applications' most effective testing strategies. This is an exciting opportunity to join a high-performing cross-functional team.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Improve, maintain, and perform automated tests on multiple application platforms, such as Web, cloud, Front-end, and Back-end.
- Define and collaborate with other engineers to develop our group’s testing frameworks and tools to perform automated UI visual regression, application end-to-end, and API integration tests. Currently, we use Cypress, Cucumber, and Appium for E2E.
- Research test tools, methodologies, and trends to upgrade existing practices and processes.
- Partner with product management and other software engineers to define test strategies that accomplish the most comprehensive test automation coverage with the minimum effective dose of tests.
- Collaborate with UX/UI designers, product managers, and software engineers to identify the non-happy paths and edge cases.
- Come together with your peers to share ideas, ask why with an open and curious mind, and learn from each other’s diverse perspectives to deliver great work as a team.
- Develop, test, and document performant test automation code, ensuring easy of use, modularity, and maintainability.
- Define the architectural vision of the team’s test automation strategy.
- Responsible for triaging automation failures, collecting failure metrics, analyzing root causes, and bringing them to a resolution
- Managing the final quality of releases.
QAULIFICATION:
- 10+ years of software quality engineering industry experience, with 5+ years of building test automation for large-scale enterprise-grade systems.
- Bachelor's in Computer Science, Engineering or a related technology field required
- Clear and compelling communication of your thoughts and ideas.
- Knowledge of test methodologies and their corresponding tools
- Experience with TDD and BDD
- Expert at designing, building, and maintaining modular and efficient frameworks for UI, API, and performance end-to-end testing.
- Proficient with end-to-end testing of web applications.
- Experience with consumer-driven contract testing (i.e., with Pact, Postman, etc.).
- Experience with automated visual regression testing.
- Experience recognizing risks in an application
- Familiarity with AWS compute services.
- Great understanding of testing for Web Accessibility.
- Good understanding of how test automation integrates into CI/CD pipelines.
- Familiarity with cross-browser and cross-platform idiosyncrasies and how they impact web applications.
- High level of comfort evangelizing the importance of test automation.
- Experience with Agile SCRUM and Kanban, and the software development life cycle.
- Experience with Javascript/Typescript, Python, and Java-related test automation frameworks.
