Role Summary

The Future Programs team exists to expand the definition of Electric Adventure Vehicle with new product and ecosystem solutions. We are specifically focused on addressing local transportation and the outsized impact towards Keeping the World Adventurous Forever that comes with disrupting short, high emission trips.

Responsibilities

  • Design of PCBAs, custom sensors, sensor packaging, connectors and other electronics elements associated with motors, motor controllers and motion systems
  • Implement GD&T to control the specification of component geometry and enable viable inspection processes
  • Design a thermal management strategy from source to sink – collaborating with analysis team to ensure reliable system operation during specified operating conditions
  • Responsible for a clear and robust assembly strategy for PCBAs, sensors, connectors and the interconnectivity of relevant subsystems
  • Generate cost, mass and price tracking for all components and subsystems
  • Use project tracking tools to maintain schedule for design, manufacture, assembly & test of all hardware
  • Collaborate with the program management team to provide schedule inputs and escalate blockers, delays, etc.
  • Collaborate virtually and face-to-face with contract manufacturing partners to optimize designs for manufacturability
  • Collaborate with Industrial Design to ensure any customer facing surfaces are compatible with the design vision
  • Generate mechanical DFMEA for all relevant electrical components, sensors and subsystems
  • Generate test plans in support of the V-shaped development methodology – component, subsystem to system level validation and verification testing
  • Collaborate with test engineering team to post process testing results, develop & implement engineer changes and present relevant findings to leadership

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of applicable industry experience
  • Proficiency in mechanical design of PCBAs, sensor packaging, connectors and wire routing
  • Strong familiarity with electromechanical systems – sensors, actuators, motors and motor controllers
  • Strong familiarity with rotary and linear position sensors, IMUs, general analog and digital sensing elements
  • Knowledge of reliability testing requirements for electronics – IP testing, vibe & shock, thermal cycling, etc.
  • Experience with the design validation and verification process
  • Ability to work closely with electrical engineering team to create optimized, elegent & efficiently packaged electronic components and assemblies
  • Knowledge of proper electrical harness fabrication techniques and the ability to build basic electrical harnesses in support of prototyping activities
  • Comfortable working in a small-team environment where individuals are expected to fill the needs of multiple roles in order to ensure program success
  • Understanding of electrical safety and comfortable working around 1kW+ power supplies, batteries, power transmission systems
  • Track record of continued learning, clear communication, cross-collaboration and data-driven decision making
  • Ability to clearly document and present project material to all levels of leadership
  • Proficient with CAD – Catia 3DX (preferred), Enovia PLM, Microsoft Office products
  • Minimum education: Bachelors of Science in Mechcanical Engineering or higher 

Salary Range/Hourly Rate for California Based Applicants: $184,000.00 - $211,000.00 (actual compensation will be determined based on experience, location, and other factors permitted by law).
