As a Staff Mechanical Engineer / Technical Specialist on the Motor Gearbox Engineering team, you will have design ownership of next generation EV mechanical propulsion systems and components for Lucid vehicles, motorsports programs and other applications. You will work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment with talented and passionate colleagues to design, prototype, test and launch these exciting products into production.

The Role:
Lead the engineering design and development of next generation EV mechanical propulsion systems from concept to productionEngineer components and subsystems including motors, geartrains, castings, lubrication systems and other structural, thermal, and rotational componentsSet detailed system and component specifications to meet high level functional requirements (performance, efficiency, durability, etc.)Develop innovative design solutions based on a deep understanding of engineering fundamentals coupled with an awareness of industry practicesCreate well-structured 3D CAD models utilizing both top-down and bottom-up practices as appropriateCreate clear and detailed 2D drawings and other necessary documentation to communicate design intentPerform engineering analysis (CAE, etc.) to ensure alignment with specified and functional requirementsThoughtfully apply tolerance analysis, GD&T and other techniques to ensure manufacturability, quality and performanceWork hands-on to prototype, test and refine hardware, equipment, and processesCollaborate with Test and Reliability teams to develop and execute rigorous design and product validation test plansWork closely with Supply Chain and SQA to source, industrialize and PPAP vendorsSupport production launch and continuous improvement activities as neededTravel domestically and internationally as requiredQualifications:
At least 8 years of relevant design release experience in electric motors, geartrains, castings, thermal systems or other relevant productsDemonstrated track record of excellence and innovation yielding tangible results in at least one (preferably more) finished, manufactured productOutstanding CAD skills - preferably CATIA V6/3DXExtensive experience designing for various manufacturing processes, including (but not limited to) casting, machining, forging, gear cutting, injection molding and stampingExcellent organization and project management skillsExcellent written and verbal communication skillsProactive, ownership mindset and strong work ethicAbility to thrive in a fast paced, rapidly changing environmentCollaborative, team player personality
Preferred:
Automotive powertrain experience - especially transmission and EV powertrain systemsExperience selecting and working directly with suppliers and subcontractorsAdvanced CAD skills including advanced surfacing, generative design, and other techniquesHands-on mechanical fabrication and prototyping skillsPrevious direct involvement in product launch for mass productionExperience with DFMEA, 8D, DOE other structured evaluation and problem-solving methodologies
Education:
BS, minimum (MS, preferred) in mechanical engineering or a related field
