We are currently seeking a Technical Program Manager – Audio Hardware Components.  This position requires an experienced professional with a proven track record of excellence and managerial achievement.  The candidate is an accomplished program/project manager with experience developing and implementing hardware solutions in the audio industry.  This person will have strong organizational capabilities with an innate ability to influence talented engineering teams and stakeholders to coordinate a seamless technical program development effort.  The candidate communicates effectively and efficiently to ensure all team members are aware of the most relevant program milestones and expectations set by the vehicle program teams.  Critical issues are promptly identified and presented to senior management alongside a concise action plan for resolution.  Our ideal candidate exhibits a can-do attitude, thrives in a fast-paced setting, and approaches their work with vigor and a determination to always move things forward.  Candidates will be expected to demonstrate competence in their respective fields, possess the ability to learn quickly and strive for excellence within a complex and often ambiguous environment.

Role

  • Manages the technical development program of electrical components related to audio, such as: sound amplifiers, speakers, microphones, pedestrian warning, horns, radio tuner and antennas, etc.)
  • Responsible to drive technical projects end-to-end, including support and coordination for system design specifications, mechanical packaging, unit testing, verification, integration and validation processes
  • Engages in vehicle programs from the conceptual design phase to the start of production, including series maintenance and model upgrades as it relates to audio design
  • Executes cross-functional system release plans including requirements from involved areas like product marketing, product management, audio software development, infotainment system, etc.
  • Designs and implements effective program management processes and best practices from initiation to completion in partnership with the hardware, software and manufacturing teams
  • Communicates to the larger team and senior management the status of the program, design directions, risks and plans to mitigate with the ability to negotiate exceptions, trade-offs and scope changes while achieving consensus to move programs forward
  • Executes solid root-cause analysis and reporting with the ability to identify and predict possible deviations related to product architecture or other technical change requirements
  • Proactively evaluates design and engineering decisions, making sure they don’t cause gaps in correlation with the program schedule, budget and scope
  • Expedites revisions, corrections, and implementation of necessary changes to new or previously published documentation
  • Fosters strong cross-functional partnerships and is able to effectively prioritize workload demands to meet project deadlines

    Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in technical leadership, system engineering and/or technical program management of audio systems and/or hardware, preferably related to the automotive industry
  • A proven track record of driving the development and delivery of audio hardware programs
  • Knowledge of audio software development, including software verification, integration and validation processes
  • Experience with Agile (hardware and software) product management methodologies
  • Experience contributing to and working within the Product Development Process (PDP)
  • Experience working with and managing audio hardware suppliers, contract manufacturers and audio HW/SW design/development consultants
  • Experience building, developing, and managing highly effective program management tools and processes
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills utilizing documentation and presentation tools such as Word, PowerPoint, Confluence and other
  • Strong collaboration skills with the ability to build cross-functional relationships and work in a fast-paced highly complex environment
  • Highly organized with the ability to prioritize efforts to drive against the product roadmap and schedule to deliver projects on time
  • Ability to inspire confidence with colleagues, engineering teams and executive level leadership.
  • Ability to quickly comprehend complex problems and effectively facilitate the team to a decision and coordinate the action plan
  • Solid skills in evaluation and criticism of engineering decisions and changes
  • Availability to travel within the US and internationally as needed

  • Advantageous:
  • Experience in automotive development processes, including design reviews, change management, evaluation with suppliers, deviation requests, etc.
  • Ability to influence audio system designs pulling from previous experience and/or education
  • Experience with hardware-related software development (e.g. microcontroller abstraction layers, drivers, etc.)
  • Experience with Jama requirements management
  • Experience with Atlassian Software (JIRA, Confluence)
  • Knowledge of automotive and safety standards (e.g. ASPICE, ISO26262, etc.)
  • Individual contributor to the design and development of complex electronic control units is highly valued
  • Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electronics Engineering, Audio Design or equivalent work experience
  • Project Management certification (PMP) highly desired
