We are currently seeking a Sr. Systems Modeling Engineer. This position requires a talented engineer with passion and experience to help develop state-of-the-art battery models and control strategies. The ideal candidate will exhibit a can-do attitude and approach their work with vigor and determination. Candidates will be expected to demonstrate excellence in their respective fields, to possess the ability to learn quickly and to strive for perfection within a fast-paced environment.
Salary Range: The compensation range for this position is specific to the locations listed below and is the range Lucid reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for the position taking into account the wide variety of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions ,including job-related knowledge; skillset; experience, education and training; certifications; and other relevant business and organizational factors.
· California (Bay Area) - $115,000-$165,000/yr

Role:
Be part of a passionate and highly driven team of multi-disciplinary engineersDevelop system models and optimization tools to assess battery electrical and thermal performance under different usage scenariosDevelop and/or expand existing simulation tools to drive control strategy development for fast charging, high performance driving scenarios, and other challenging thermal scenarios at a vehicle levelCouple the effects of different systems required to fast charge including HVAC and offboard chargersCollaborate with the Battery Software team to determine best strategies to achieve accurate and reliable State of charge (SoC) /State of Energy (SoE)/ State of Health (SoH) estimationCollaborate with the Battery Software team and Cell team to determine best control methodologies high power discharge/charge limitsWork closely with the testing team, develop and document experiments to validate electrical and thermal system modelsSupport in the derivation of software requirements liaising with the BMS system teamHelp define and drive validation and integration plansImplement data analysis tools to gather and analyze fleet data to understand real-world usage scenarios to drive continuous improvements and inform future technology roadmapsQualifications:
Expert knowledge of modeling techniques used to simulate lithium-ion cells, battery packs, and thermal systems5+ years of experience using modeling and simulation tools like MATLAB, Simulink, and other specialized toolsSkills in system identification, modeling, optimization, physical characterization and testingExperience in developing plant models used for battery control algorithms simulation and verificationStrong understanding of algorithm design, optimization, and verificationStrong experience in scripting simulation workflows with varying availability of documentationCapability of processing and documenting results in a concise and elegant fashion to successfully communicate information to the team and other departmentsOwnership mindset, enthusiasm, and a collaborative spiritPreferred
