Position: Senior Scientist, Bioinformatics 

We are seeking a Senior Bioinformatics Scientist to lead our Bioinformatics team and help us build new products that will help farmers advance their crop management practices.  Come join our quickly growing scientific team and help drive innovation in agriculture! 

Responsibilities: 

  • Develop pipelines to analyze and interpret amplicon, whole genome, and transcriptomic data from root and soil communities 
  • Create bioinformatics tools that aid the scientific discovery process 
  • Independently initiate bioinformatics projects to advance our knowledge of bacterial diversity and the plant microbiome. 
  • Lead a team of Bioinformaticians across various scientific projects 
  • Collaborate with research and field scientists to advise, design, and analyze sequencing experiments. 
  • Work with the software development team to ensure that output from bioinformatics pipelines is integrated into our data infrastructure and LIMS systems 

Qualifications and Experience 

  • Ph.D. in Bioinformatics, Biostatistics, Molecular Biology, or equivalent training 
  • Minimum 5-7 years’ industry experience analyzing data from next generation sequencing (NGS).  
  • Prior hands-on laboratory or plant microbiome experience is desirable.  
  • Strong communication, data presentation, and documentation skills 
  •  Experience using R, Python, Nextflow, and source code control tools such as git. 
  • Proficiency with Linux/UNIX operating systems and the AWS ecosystem. 
  • Expertise with bioinformatics tools, data quality control, statistical methods, and publicly available genomic databases.  
  • Proactive problem solver with interest in joining a fast-paced start-up culture
