The Global Office of Sustainability works in partnership with leaders and organizations across our business to facilitate the identification and achievement of company-wide Sustainability goals and thus accelerate Rivian’s achievement of its mission and commitments. Thanks to the authentic commitment to Sustainability that permeates our company, the Global Office of Sustainability supports our colleagues through unique core competencies like data and reporting, responsible sourcing and human rights, carbon measurement and decarbonization, but also leverages the vast and diverse skills and knowledge of present across Rivian. Additionally, the Global Office of Sustainability is responsible to implement and execute on key projects, working collaboratively to implement and drive results. This ethos of partnership and service leadership is essential and the force multiplier for our collective progress toward our Forever mission.

The Global Office of Sustainability is currently seeking a Senior Manager, Sustainability Reporting, to join its team, reporting to the Senior Director, Sustainability. The team is looking for an experienced sustainability and/or Corporate Social Responsibility professional to contribute to building the Sustainability function at Rivian, including systems, processes and reporting for our extensive Sustainability portfolio. The right candidate will help shape Rivian’s sustainability strategy and agenda, and contribute to the growth of multiple sustainability initiatives, with a focus on our annual reporting cycle. This team member will also work with leaders across the business to understand their objectives and find points of integration with sustainability priorities.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Sustainability Reporting:

  • Lead development and program management of Rivian’s annual Sustainability Report and all related sustainability content and disclosures across multiple frameworks/ rating agencies (e.g., CDP, GRI, SASB, MSCI, EcoVadis, Sustainalytics, ISS, Moody’s ESG, etc.)
  • Liaise with the relevant Rivian teams on Sustainability goal setting, data collection and controls, verification, and tracking / monitoring progress to plan for the KPIs
  • Stay current with climate and sustainability reporting SEC guidelines, reporting norms, industry expectations, and the competitive landscape of our peers/comparators
  • Lead and actively participate as an individual contributor in reporting activities including interviewing subject matter experts, drafting content, managing external agencies, facilitating functional and senior management reviews/approvals, and ensuring thorough coverage of broad business issues as well as our priority areas for sustainability
  • Support onboarding of data management solutions and ESG reporting software, including tools and processes to track, monitor, and evaluate progress and performance against Sustainability goals and commitments

 

Other Sustainability Responsibilities:

  • Support the Senior Director, Sustainability with strategic initiatives and day-to-day operations
  • Work closely with the senior leadership as they shape and execute upon enterprise-wide Sustainability targets, including Rivian’s Net Zero commitment by 2040
  • Staff the Planet & Policy BOD Committee with sustainability reporting updates and presentations
  • Partner with Rivian Communications to build audience and channel strategies for sustainability communications to differentiate Rivian amongst peers/competitors and elevate the Rivian brand
  • Support specific communications activations, including speaking opportunities

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 3+ years creating and/or leading sustainability reporting for a public corporation
  • 5+ years’ experience in program or project management
  • 5+ years’ experience in sustainability, ESG, and/or corporate social responsibility in a large organization
  • Bachelors’ degree and/or master’s degree in a relevant field including Sustainability Management, Environmental Studies, Business Administration, etc. 
  • Demonstrated success in applying ESG and/or sustainability principles in alignment with company strategy and business needs and cross-functional program implementation
  • Prior experience in management consulting preferred
  • Strong program and project management skills to operate in a fast-paced and dynamic environment and effectively set and meet deadlines
  • Ability to lead through influence and motivate others to do their best work
  • A collaborative working style and ability to work cross-functionally with stakeholders at all levels of the organization and within many functions (investor relations, internal audit, communications, brand, IT, etc.)
  • Knowledge of Scopes 1, 2, and 3 measurement and reporting
  • Clear understanding of common sustainability metrics and how business decisions impact them.
  • Experience with ESG reporting software
  • Ability to navigate a complex and matrixed organization in a high-growth phase
  • Strategic and entrepreneurial mindset with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Ability to operate well under pressure with a high degree of composure and professionalism
  • Offer proactive support and anticipate leadership needs in a timely manner
  • Willingness to travel as required in support of assigned responsibilities
