What You Will Be Doing

The Sr. Employee Relations Manager will build the Employee Relations function at ChargePoint by developing, fair and consistent employee relations policies, procedures, and best practices that promote a positive working environment.  The Sr. ER Manager will engage as a trusted advisor to guide people leaders and employees on day-to-day workplace concerns/issues, including but not limited to performance management, corrective action, terminations, investigations and conflict resolution, ensuring matters are handled with consistency, sensitivity, tact & diplomacy.

Key responsibilities

  • Develop and drive ER strategy to scale with the company.
  • Manage and conduct thorough end-to-end workplace investigations into allegations of policy violations, harassment, discrimination, retaliation, etc. and prepare all required documentation.
  • Proactively issue-spot ER concerns, utilize appropriate partnerships and apply a strong understanding of company policies, culture, and values to implement sound solutions.
  • Lead initiatives to create and implement training to enhance and strengthen people leaders’ understanding of company policies, compliance, regulation, and ER best practices.
  • Develop and provide ER data reporting to identify themes and trends and proactively drive strategies that address root cause and mitigate organizational risk.
  • Consult and mentor the People team on a variety of compliance and regulatory policies and issues, which may include privacy, diversity & inclusion, compliance programming support, workplace accommodations, wage and hour training, and leave and time away policies.
  • Build compliance strategies and partnerships with Risk & Legal. Stay current with legislative changes and develop internal controls and policies to ensure all compliance needs are met.

 What You Will Bring to ChargePoint

The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment, have experience owning and growing an ER function, evolve ER policies to ensure compliance, and be a trusted partner to the People team and the business. The individual in this role must have strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders at all levels. The individual will also be able to work independently and support multiple projects in a high volume, fast-paced hybrid environment.

Basic qualifications

  • 10+ years of Employee Relations experience with at least 3 years leading the function.
  • Expert  knowledge of employment, wage and hour, FMLA and EEO laws
  • Outstanding skills in conflict resolution, counseling, coaching,  negotiations, risk management, and building relationships with employees at all levels
  • Strong analytical skills to identify trends and interpret information.
  • BA/BS degree or equivalent work experience

  • Strong understanding of labor and employment law and employee relations
  • Excellent investigation and documentation skills
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to exercise sound judgment based on policies, procedures, practices, risk factors and precedent
  • Natural problem-solving ability and passion to improve others’ well-being
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills with a high degree of attention to detail.
  • Resourceful, with ability to work as a self-starter in a face paced, flexible environment
  • Ability to act with sense of urgency, while maintaining accuracy & data integrity
  • Strong project management & organization skills
  • Experience in high growth, fast-paced company a plus
  • Familiarity with UltiPro, Workday, and ER Case Management tools desired

Bay Area preferred (hybrid)

The targeted US salary range for roles at this operating level is $85,000 to $162,750. This range represents base salary and does not reflect equity, benefits or variable pay where applicable. Actual base salaries are based on several factors unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, experience, certifications and specific work location.
