Role Summary
In this position, you will be creating and updating 3D CAD models and 2D drawings for high voltage cable assemblies and sub-components (cable channels, strain relief brackets, etc.) for our continuously growing library of products. You will work across multiple programs under the direction of multiple Design Release Engineers, with priorities dependent on program milestones. The position will be established on a FLEX work arrangement and, thus, not require 100% attendance at a Rivian facility. However, it will be beneficial to be located near the offices either in Plymouth, MI or Irvine, CA to facilitate collaboration with the DREs or other personnel on an as-needed basis. Most team members are in the office 1-2 days per week.
Responsiblities
The essential functions of the position include, but are not limited to:
- Work with engineers and designers to create and update high voltage cable assemblies and associated sub-components in 3D CAD (CATIA v6).
- Create and update professional drawings with tolerances and GD&T.
- Coordinate and participate in Design Reviews or Packaging Meetings.
- Provide documentation on design and assembly.
- Work with cross-functional teams for maturity of 3D components and drawings.
- Perform other duties as required or assigned within the scope of the position.
Qualifications
- Experience and ability to create complex models of wire routings, injection-molded plastic and stamped metal components.
- Expertise in the following areas: 3D CAD creation in CATIA, 2D drawing creation from 3D CAD, 2D drawing dimensioning, tolerancing and other GD&T attributes.
- Experience with Electrical design package in CATIA.
- Ability to work independently, and to coach and mentor others.
- Dynamic attitude with desire to learn and expand your knowledge and capability.
- Ability to work effectively in a cross-functional group setting.
