Sr. Analyst, Structured Origination

Our rapidly growing Commercial Operations team of mission-driven, climate enthusiasts is passionate, innovative and committed to a better future for the planet. We are looking for a Sr. Analyst of Structured Origination to build out the Trading & Origination department which is responsible for the full life cycle of portfolio management. Our goal is to create a best in the business platform to manage the exposures for power, natural gas and environmental product supply. The role will be primarily focused on portfolio strategy, commercial analysis, and supporting market research.

How you’ll help: 

• Market Intelligence: Research and maintain knowledge of power and gas markets, REC and Carbon programs, and evolving contract structures
• Commercial Analytics: Perform quantitative analysis on offtake structures, weather options, and structured products to optimize value for the portfolio 
• Transaction Modeling: Build and support structured commercial transaction models blending historical with forward analysis
• Data Analytics: Partner with Analytics, Risk, and Data Science teams to ensure integrity of commercial model inputs 
• Origination: Support offtake discussions with counterparties for Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) transactions and potential partnerships for new product offerings

Year 1 deliverables:

• Develop standard market intelligence deliverables for the business including Tableau dashboards and weekly market update materials
• Partner with Risk to complete the balance of year load following strategy and analysis
• Complete modeling for bundled structured PPA products executed during balance of year
• Standard process for new market entry and setup for both power and gas

Here’s what you’ll bring to the table:

Non-negotiables:

• Must have 4+ years of energy market experience in power generation, retail energy company, or renewable energy company
• Knowledge of market fundamentals, commercial structures, and portfolio hedging strategies
• Demonstrated ability to tackle large projects methodically and drive outcomes
• Ability to compile large datasets and create strategy presentations for a broad set of stakeholders

Nice to have: 

• Retail energy experience
• Renewable asset project or offtake modeling experience
• Business Process Design experience
• Programming Skills (C, C++, VBA, Python, Matlab, etc)
• Tableau, Microsoft Power BI, or other reporting tools
