Role Summary:

The Vehicle Applications teams’ mission is to ensure our products are always ready for our customer’s next adventure. We achieve that mission through a suite of applications that integrate our platforms. Building a vertically integrated company requires a vertically integrated software solution. Our team makes for every phase of the business, from the in-vehicle firmware to the cloud, embedded, and mobile applications to our B2B Fleet OS platform. Our team is responsible for Smart Diagnostics, Rivian’s Diagnostic Engine that drives in-vehicle and remote diagnostics via manual, no-code, and ML-driven root cause analysis. We are developing the most advanced integrated diagnostic system in the world, capable of proactively monitoring, analyzing, and learning from our fleets throughout their lifecycle.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain vehicle fleet software configuration - install over-the-air updates and identify issues that prevent successful OTA
  • Conduct daily end-to-end vehicle-level software smoke testing and report results utilizing Jama and Jira as necessary
  • Support ad-hoc test requests for new software
  • Instrument vehicles and set up test apparatuses such as CAN cases and Ethernet data loggers to collect test data
  • Execute diagnostic test plans and specific test cases based on documented procedures
  • Liaison with Engineering and drivers to perform regression testing

Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of experience in test or factory operations
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to learn new skills quickly
  • Experience with vehicle communication systems such as CAN, UDS, and SAE J1979 / J1939 OBD
  • Willingness to be hands-on in conducting in-vehicle test
  • Ability to build test equipment and fabricate harnesses
  • Preferred Qualifications:
    • Experience with onboard diagnostics
    • Experience using breakout boxes and essential laboratory equipment such as function generators and power regulators

Hourly Rate for California-Based Applicants: 32.70 - 36.55 (actual compensation will be determined based on experience, location, and other factors permitted by law).
