Role Description
Form Energy is hiring an intern to contribute to battery data processing as part of our Battery Data group of the Software team. In this role, you will develop tools that help battery scientists make the most of their experimental data. You will work closely with battery engineers to understand their needs and collaboratively come up with solutions. You will work with a supportive mentor as part of a highly collaborative software team, and will learn to develop professional software while helping tackle climate change.

What You'll Do:

  • Take on a clearly-scoped project where you will write Python code that processes battery data to enable analysis of experimental data
  • Document software and data for end users as well as other developers
  • Work closely with end users (battery scientists and engineers) to ensure that they can access and understand the output of your code
  • Projects might include: writing code to compute new metrics based on time series data, integrating a new source of information to generate alerts about how experiments are going, or developing a user interface to allow easy annotation of data.
  • What You'll Bring:

  • Pursuing Bachelors or Masters degree in computer science, data science, or related field
  • Fluency in Python; experience with SQL, Pandas, numpy, git, and/or unit testing is a plus
  • Eagerness to learn and apply best practices (documentation, testing, architecture choices, etc.)
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Experience analyzing data in some context is a plus (battery experience not required!)
  • Able to work full-time for at least 10 weeks starting in May or June 2023
