Role Description
The Development Engineering team acts as an interdisciplinary internal consulting group serving the hardware needs of Form’s battery development and manufacturing teams. We work closely with subject matter experts to deliver solutions that help us better understand Form’s battery technology as well as how we can manufacture batteries at scale. We need your help to design and build creative solutions to Form’s most pressing challenges. This is a great opportunity to solve a wide array of technical problems while interfacing with many cross functional teams at Form Energy.

What You'll Do:

  • Create software tools to help test engineers monitor and analyze the performance of large-scale electromechanical systems
  • Develop and deploy an alerting system to help technicians quickly find and diagnose problems
  • Equip the development engineering team members to visualize data from their internally developed test systems 
  • Assist in building the infrastructure required to maintain an accurate software representation of existing hardware solutions
  • Work with Development Engineering team members on various projects based on your skills/interests and Form’s top priorities
  • Promote good software practice to enable high quality data integrity especially in the development of new laboratory processes or experiments
  • What You'll Bring:

  • Pursuing a degree in Computer Science or other relevant field at an academic institution 
  • Some previous software design and build experience (through industrial internship or academic positions)
  • Previous projects or other relevant hands-on experience such as: extracurricular teams, academic research, personal projects, self-directed class projects
  • Ability to work full-time (with a minimum 3 days per week on-site in Somerville) during the coop period (late-summer/early-fall through late-December)
  • Battery experience not required
