Software Engineer for Performance Modeling

Each year, the world's cars drive a combined distance of a light-year. Doing so, they are affecting our planet. Our goal is to offer a renewable substitute and drive a light-year with it by 2035.

Where: The Automotive Campus in Helmond or remotely. For some (also senior) roles we are accommodating people to work from outside of the Netherlands for the majority of their weeks. At Lightyear we are continuously searching ways to work on data-based models describing the effect of design choices on the real-world driving performance and market competitiveness of our vehicles. An example of this is the Vehicle Performance Model (VPM), which is a Matlab/Simulink model that is developed to model the energy consumption of all components in the car. With this model, we are continuously tracking the design of the vehicle, and looking for improvements that will benefit the energy consumption and range of the vehicles we are designing. Also, for the future vehicles we use the model to estimate the performance of different vehicle architectures, control strategies etc.
