Carbon Clean is an established global leader in industrial carbon capture solutions helping essential, but hard-to-abate, industries decarbonise. Our innovative solutions significantly reduce the costs and environmental impacts of carbon capture compared to conventional technologies.
Technology to achieve 'net zero'.
Designing and developing innovative mechanical designs, structural design and analysis, material selection, thermal management, Finite Element Analysis (FEA), manufacturing support, and documentation. In this role, you will design and analyse static components, ensure compliance with industry standards, and drive continuous improvement within the design process.
Your key focus will be:
- Structural design and analysis: Design and analyse static components, such as housings, casings, and support structures, to ensure they can withstand loads, vibrations, and thermal stresses generated by rotating components. Perform ASME calculations to meet safety requirements, design margins, and relevant codes.
- Material selection: Choose appropriate materials for static components considering factors like strength, durability, weight, cost, and compatibility with rotating elements and operating conditions.
- Finite Element Analysis (FEA): Perform FEA to predict and mitigate stress concentrations, deformation, and fatigue in static components under various loading conditions.
- Manufacturing support: Collaborate with manufacturing engineers to ensure the producibility of designed components, considering factors such as tolerances, surface finishes, and manufacturing processes.
- Documentation: Create and maintain accurate technical documentation, including design reports, engineering drawings, and specifications, to support manufacturing, assembly, and maintenance of static components.
- Continuous improvement: Stay up to date with industry trends, new technologies, and best practices to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the design process.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will ideally have a combination of the below knowledge, skills and experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related field. Master’s degree in same preferred.
- Experience in static equipment design and analysis.
- Demonstrated experience in a leadership or supervisory role
- Strong knowledge of structural design principles and ASME codes.
- Proficiency in FEA software (ANSYS, Abaqus, or similar).
- Experience in material selection and thermal management solutions.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Familiarity with industry-specific design software (e.g. SolidWorks, AutoCAD).
