Who You Are
As a Senior Staff Accountant, you will be a valuable team member responsible for executing the day-to-day accounting operations and period-end close functions. Your duties will include preparing journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting the preparation of financial statements. This role is a foundation for growth, where you will learn and apply technical accounting concepts related to areas like, fixed assets, inventory, cost of goods sold (COGS) and general ledger maintenance, while ensuring the accuracy of financial information and maintaining the integrity of accounting processes.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Perform key month-end closing activities, including preparing and posting journal entries and completing assigned account reconciliations
- Support the annual audit process, including gathering documentation, responding to routine inquiries from external auditors, and providing general audit support
- Fixed Assets: Assist in maintaining the fixed asset ledger, calculating monthly depreciation, and supporting the capital expenditure request process
- Cost of Goods Sold (COGS): Support the inventory and COGS reconciliation process, including analyzing manufacturing overhead and variances
- Inventory: Prepare inventory reconciliations and analyze standard cost variances and overhead allocations
- Reconcile and maintain various balance sheet accounts such as prepaids, and inventory.
- Assist the Senior Accounting team with technical accounting research and documentation on various accounting issues
- Document business processes and assist in refining accounting policies and procedures to maintain and strengthen internal controls
- Prepare routine schedules and supporting documentation for internal and external financial reporting purposes
- Assist with ad hoc tasks and projects as assigned, such as various regulatory tax filings
Knowledge and Skill Requirements
- Minimum of 3 to 5 years of progressive experience in accounting preferably in the manufacturing industry
- CPA preferred or actively pursuing
- Experience with standard costing and variance analysis
- Fixed asset and/or Inventory experience preferred
- Solid understanding of US GAAP and technical accounting concepts
- Experience with large ERP systems preferred, ideally in a manufacturing environment
- Proficient with Google Apps (Gmail, Docs, Sheets)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Physical Demands and Working Conditions
- Move long distances (such as from building to building) and be stationary for extended periods of time
- Operate a computer and other office equipment, such as a laptop, copier/printer, etc in a fixed location
The starting base pay for this role is between $105,000 and $123,000 at the time of posting. The actual base pay depends on many factors, such as education, experience, and skills. Base pay is only one part of Sila’s competitive Total Rewards package that can include benefits, perks, equity, and bonuses.
