What you will do:
As a Senior Scientist for the Analytical Chemistry team, you will focus on the challenging analysis of metals in solutions and solids to support our R&D and engineering teams. This position will be responsible for ICP-OES analysis, instrument maintenance and troubleshooting. It is also expected this scientist will lead technicians performing sample digestions and preparations within the Analytical group.
Responsibilities include:
- Perform routine sample analysis in the turnaround time required
- Maintain and troubleshoot instrumentation and equipment
- Strong attention to detail
- Create and oversee analytical chemistry projects to improve data quality and efficiency
- Clearly communicate results and uncertainty to the rest of the team
- Develop and validate new methods to meet new analysis needs
- Draft clear and concise Standard Operating Procedures as needed
- Evaluate new technologies and methodologies; recommend their adoption when appropriate
- Mentor other analysts and technicians with more advanced analytical procedures
- Assist in general laboratory operations such as inventory, clean up, etc.
- Read, understand, and comply with all workplace health and safety policies, safe work practices, and company policies and procedures
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor
What we need you to bring to the team:
- Demonstrates advanced expertise in analytical chemistry with a bachelor’s degree in chemistry or a related field and a minimum of 8 years of industry experience or 6 years with a master’s degree or 3 years with a PhD (excluding internships, co-ops, and academic projects)
- Experienced in ICP-OES analysis, including method development, instrument maintenance, and troubleshooting
- Skilled in sample digestion techniques such as microwave digestion aqua-regia four acid digestion and borate or peroxide fusions
- Proficient with a broad range of analytical instrumentation, including XRF XRD C/S O/N, and UV-Vis
- Capable of independently planning and executing complex projects with minimal oversight
- Applies in-depth professional knowledge and judgment to evaluate variable factors and resolve complex technical challenges
- Demonstrates the ability to creatively and effectively solve problems and adapt techniques to deliver high-quality results
- Frequently mentors and advises others on complex scientific matters and leads internal initiatives without direct people management responsibilities
- Understands the interrelationships of different scientific disciplines and guides the development of new policies and ideas
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with shifting priorities and deadlines
- Collaborates effectively with cross-functional teams
- Communicates clearly both verbally and in writing
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, OneDrive, and SharePoint

- Experience with Agilent ICP Expert software, ICP-MS analysis, method development and troubleshooting

Compensation:
- The anticipated starting pay range for this position is $100,000-$130,000 and may be more or less depending upon skills, experience, and education
