Your role and your team: 

The Systems Testing team is responsible for various disciplines covering component, system and whole aircraft tests. It is set up in three divisions: Testing, Test Management and Test Operations. Our team runs tests that facilitate certification, development and research for the technology areas: Propulsion Systems, Energy Systems, Structures, Environmental Tests, System Integration and Hardware in the Loop (HIL).

You will report directly to the Head of Systems Testing and have end to end responsibility to coordinate the development activities of both simple and complex test rigs and fixtures.

Your day to day:

  • Lead the test requirements generation with the responsible test engineer and project team.
  • Derive the rig specification and validation strategy together with the responsible test engineer.
  • Support the make vs. buy decision together with the head of systems testing and team lead.
  • Support defining the Rig strategy with the Project teams.
  • Determine the rig architecture to meet the parent requirement.
  • Determine the proper instrumentation to be used.
  • Lead the rig design & approval with the fabrication and validation & verification (for both the internal and external solutions, depending on the make vs buy) following the Lilium rig processes & methods.
  • Support and contribute to the rig development method improvement.
  • Interact as a focal between different entities such as Procurement, Production, Logistics, HSE and Quality.

Your profile:

  • Degree in mechatronic aerospace engineering (Ph.D./ M. Sc.) or similar is desired.
  • (10y+) professional hands-on experience with rig development.
  • Profound knowledge of international norms such as the machinery directive, low voltage directive and CE.
  • Experience with aerospace test rig development.
  • Configuration and change control process experience.
  • Profound knowledge in reviewing & approving CAD Design & FEM results (i.e. NX, CATIA).
  • Previous experience with supplier management & engagement.
  • Good understanding using PLM (Project Lifecycle Management) system.
  • Driven individual with the ability to probe & challenge assumptions, including solving technical conflicts.
  • High level of self-reliance with the ability to work in a team, as well as individually.
  • Target-oriented work style with analytic problem-solving skills.
  • Fluent English language skills are essential, fluent German or any other language is beneficial.
