Role Description
We are looking for a master craftsperson to solve mechanical challenges posed during the development of our largest-scale experimental batteries. In this role, you will work as a part of our Technical Operations team and coordinate directly with our Prototype Build, Engineeering and Advanced Manufacturing teams to perform fabrication work to facilitate the assembly and handling of our grid-scale batteries. You will feel comfortable independently designing, fabricating, and implementing custom built mechanical solutions tailored to meet unique design challenges. This position offers an exciting opportunity for an individual to sharpen their technical skills and lend their experience to directly impact the development of a breakthrough technology.

Design and then implement custom built solutions for problems posed by our various engineering design teamsPrepare, fabricate, and maintain build or test related infrastructure and safety systems as specified by designs & schematicsDocument and organize device assembly notes for performance traceabilityParticipate in design reviewsHelp build out and run our prototype machine shop to facilitate rapid prototypingFacilitate installation and assembly of new equipmentLead workshop and laboratory continuous improvement effortsTrain and mentor a growing team of technicians, engineers, and scientistsWhat You'll Bring:
7+ years of experience working as a machinist or with mechanical systemsExpertise in all things mechanical, fabrication, and machining relatedFamiliarity with organizing and maintaining hardware inventoryExperience with using a resource management tracking systemWritten and oral communication skills within a group of peers and broader organizationComfort using digital tools
