This position will be responsible for the delivery of carbon capture product development projects, coordinating globally dispersed technical teams and strategic suppliers.
Key Responsibilities and Outcomes
- Working closely with the Carbon Clean Innovation and Engineering Teams to deliver strategic product development projects.
- Development of the definition of and execution strategy for product development projects
- Accountable for the delivery of assigned projects to the baseline scope, schedule, budget and execution strategy within Quality and Safety targets
- Identify and proactively manage project/product risks, including capturing previously unidentified risks
- Status, progress and performance tracking against scope, schedule, budget, quality and product requirements
- Active scope and change management, ensuring all changes follow internal work processes and managing CCSL Innovation Team expectations of the change itself and the impact of the change
- Complying with company Project Delivery governance framework – supporting overall value and strategic needs. You will be expected to demonstrate that the basic principles of project success are in place.
- Building trusted and credible working relationships both within and outside the company.
- Effective people engagement and collaboration with strategic suppliers, clients, and internal technical support disciplines with emphasis on stakeholder management.
- Being a ‘good client’ to Carbon Clean’s developing supply chain, understanding their needs and expectations balanced with meeting commercial returns.
- Identifying and raising issues early - Management of leading indicators for early identification of issues and corrective action.
- Collaboratively problem solving issues that arise during development of new technology
- Working closely with project controls function and project delivery leadership – utilise their accountability to enable your work scope to succeed.
- Developing new ways of working for product development projects
- Keeping multiple moving parts in sync, occasionally across several projects
- Participation in and facilitate reviews for risk, cost, lessons learned, and work process improvements.
- Support other project managers and project engineers within the team.
Requirements
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
To be successful in this role you should have a combination of the below knowledge, skills, and experience:
The position would suit an engineering discipline professional, possibly process or mechanical. 8 years+ experience in supporting delivery of process-industry centric engineering projects.
- Product Development experience including execution of projects with stage gates
- Experience in projects with increased complexity and high uncertainty of the outcome
- Agile project work experience an advantage
- Knowledge of project controls and project management critical success factors with demonstrated experience of how they can impact performance.
- Demonstrable experience of project delivery in ambiguous and changing circumstances.
- Working effectively with globally dispersed teams and supply chains.
- Evidenced relationship building skills, especially remotely
- Proven track record of stakeholder management
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills – able to influence both with and without authority across remote/dispersed teams and create a sense of community amongst project and supplier teams.
- Working towards or completed Project or Programme Management Qualifications an advantage but hands on experience, and self-development from that experience, a must.
- Client facing exposure an advantage.
- Experience of EPC type operations and technology equipment package suppliers, an advantage.
