As our Outbound (OB) Transportation Manager, you will oversee all OB movement of materials and vehicles within our warehouse and service center locations. You will be responsible for developing an OB transportation strategy that is aligned with our milestones. The key functions include planning, execution, hiring, establishing KPIs, and managing the day-to-day operations of internal drivers and 3PL suppliers. You will create processes to effectively manage OB transportation within our warehouse and service center network.
Additionally, you will implement standardized work that will allow us to operate within DOT regulations, both on the driver side and fleet side. You will assist us in getting ready for our commercial launch.
In this role, you will
Develop a strategy to ensure our vehicles are delivered on time to our internal customers at the most efficient cost in a high-growth environment. Establish the process to operate and maintain our fleet in optimum condition. (Equipment maintenance) Develop and implement the safety guidelines to ensure team safetyEnsure assets always meet all legal requirements for permitting and licensing (DOT and state regulations). Develop and monitor KPIs to ensure continuous improvement in cost, service, and qualityManage day-to-day operations of outbound vehicle transportation, including dispatch to a team of internal drivers and 3PL suppliersSupport in the monitoring and management of budget forecast and performance against forecast; develop and implement corrective actions when performance is not in line with the budgetCommunicate clearly and effectively with internal and external stakeholders to ensure Logistics is providing high-quality service. Including but not limited to, Zoox Logistics, Engineering, and Service Operations
Travel Requirements: 20% of the time
Qualifications
BA/BS Degree and 8+ years of relevant experience within transportation logisticsAt least 3 years of experience managing drivers in a transportation environment5+ years of automotive logistics experience Transportation Management Systems experienceFleet Management Compliance experienceStrong communication, teamwork, problem-solving, and interpersonal skillsAbility to lead and commute to different warehouse locations – must be flexibleStrong work ethic; able to independently own and drive projects in a fast-paced, dynamic environmentBonus Qualifications
Experience with using Samsara is preferred but not requiredOutbound autotmovei logistics experience highly preferredStrategic program management experience, ideally in a hyper-growth environmentSAP system experienceDriver (DOT) compliance
