About the company:

Crusoe is the industry’s first vertically integrated, purpose-built AI cloud platform. The company is redefining AI cloud infrastructure and its platform is recognized as the "gold standard" among builders for its reliability and performance in developing, training, and deploying AI models. Powered by clean, renewable energy, Crusoe aligns the future of computing with the future of the climate. Leading Fortune 500 companies trust Crusoe’s advanced, AI-optimized cloud to support their most demanding AI applications.

Crusoe's mission is to accelerate the abundance of energy and intelligence. We’re crafting the engine that powers a world where people can create ambitiously with AI — without sacrificing scale, speed, or sustainability.

Be a part of the AI revolution with sustainable technology at Crusoe. Here, you'll drive meaningful innovation, make a tangible impact, and join a team that’s setting the pace for responsible, transformative cloud infrastructure.

About the Role

Crusoe Cloud's Network Engineering team is looking for an ambitious, experienced team player to help design and plan our global edge, backbone, and data center fiber network for High-Performance Compute (HPC) clusters with GPUs. The ideal candidate is highly motivated, self-directed, and passionate about sustainable, energy-efficient infrastructure. You'll bring excellent analytical and comunication skills and thrive in a collaborative environment.

As a Network Infrastructure Planner, you will be responsible for managing the planning and development of Crusoe Cloud’s network infrastructure. You will be experienced in planning and designing physical network infrastructure (dark fiber, colocation, and ISP cabling), optical transport technologies, backbone network engineering design principles, and you will have good market knowledge of network infrastructure providers in your region. This role requires extensive collaboration, driving strategic planning initiatives, designing high-availability solutions at scale, and delivering precise documentation. You will actively drive backbone infrastructure solutions for Crusoe Cloud, working with various teams to meet our customers’ demands.

What You’ll Do

  • Capacity Forecasting: Develop and maintain complex demand models to predict network capacity requirements across backbone, data center, and edge locations.

  • Strategic Roadmap: Work closely with Network Engineering to translate high-level designs into actionable multi-year deployment plans.

  • Fiber Feasibility for new sites: Evaluate new data center sites for network viability, including fiber path diversity, latency profiles, and interconnection opportunities.

  • Circuit Management: Oversee the lifecycle of terrestrial and subsea lit services and dark fiber, from initial RFP through grooming and decommissioning.

  • Optimization: Identify opportunities to optimize network spend and performance by analyzing traffic patterns and peering/transit costs.

  • Technology Roadmap: Track developments in IP and optical technology roadmaps and incorporate emerging capabilities into planning.

  • Scenario Modeling: Model ad-hoc, what-if scenarios — including greenfield and brownfield demand and supply situations — to inform strategy.

  • Fiber Topology: Oversee backbone fiber topology evolution to meet resiliency and latency requirements.

  • Fiber Acquisition: Work with engineering, finance, and sourcing to support backbone fiber acquisition strategies.

Requirements

  • 15+ years of experience in network planning in a high-capacity, mission-critical environment, or equivalent experience

  • Experience designing IP, optical, or fiber networks with knowledge of current technologies

  • Strong understanding of network topology and resiliency design

  • Experience with network modeling tools such as NPS, One Planner, OPNET, Cariden, WAE, Aria, WANDL, or similar

  • Experience with optical link design, wavelength assignment, and coherent modulation schemes, as well as IP routing protocols

  • Experience modeling and analyzing business cases for network expansion or fiber acquisition

  • Familiarity with both terrestrial and submarine production networks is a plus

  • BS or MS in an engineering or analytical field (e.g., Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Operations Research) or equivalent experience

Bonus Points

  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and automated capacity management

  • Background in negotiating IRUs (Indefeasible Rights of Use) for fiber

  • Knowledge of the energy sector or behind-the-meter power constraints

Benefits:

  • Industry competitive pay

  • Restricted Stock Units in a fast-growing, well-funded technology company

  • Health insurance package options that include HDHP and PPO, vision, and dental for you and your dependents

  • Employer contributions to HSA accounts

  • Paid Parental Leave

  • Paid life insurance, short-term and long-term disability

  • Teladoc

  • Pet-friendly offices

  • 401(k) with a 100% match up to 4% of salary

  • Generous paid time off and holiday schedule

  • Cell phone reimbursement

  • Tuition reimbursement
