The Senior Strategic R&D Mechatronics Engineer I is responsible for leading the design, development, integration, and validation of advanced mechatronic systems that support next-generation product innovation and strategic technology initiatives. This role combines mechanical, electrical, controls, and software engineering expertise to develop high-impact solutions from concept through commercialization.

The ideal candidate is a highly collaborative technical leader with strong systems-thinking capability, hands-on prototyping experience, and a passion for innovation in complex electromechanical systems

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead the research, architecture, design, and development of advanced mechatronic systems and subsystems.
  • Drive strategic R&D initiatives aligned with long-term technology roadmaps and business objectives.
  • Develop and integrate mechanical components, embedded systems, sensors, actuators, motion control systems, and automation technologies.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, product management, manufacturing, quality, and external partners to deliver innovative solutions.
  • Conduct feasibility studies, proof-of-concept development, risk analysis, and system validation testing.
  •  Create system-level requirements, technical specifications, design documentation, and test protocols.
  •  Support prototype builds, troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, and performance optimization activities.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies, materials, and methodologies to enhance product performance and competitive differentiation.
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to engineering best practices, technical standards, and innovation culture.
  • Participate in strategic planning, intellectual property development, and technical presentations to leadership and stakeholders.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechatronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, or related engineering discipline preferred; equivalent extensive hands-on industry experience may be considered in lieu of a degree for candidates who demonstrate the ability to meet all other technical and professional requirements.
  • 7+ years of experience in mechatronics, robotics, automation, or advanced electromechanical system development.
  • Strong understanding of integrated mechanical, electrical, and control systems.
  •  Experience with CAD software, system modeling, simulation, and rapid prototyping tools.
  • Proficiency in embedded systems, sensors, actuators, motor controls, and industrial communication protocols.
  •  Experience with programming and scripting languages such as Python, C/C++, MATLAB, or LabVIEW.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead complex technical projects from concept through validation.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
