Rondo is seeking a Sr. Mechanical Engineer, Construction Projects with strong design, tooling, and construction experience. This role will sit at the intersection of Rondo Engineering & on-the-ground construction teams, and will have a huge impact in scaling the construction of RHBs.

What You Will Do (key responsibilities for this role include but are not limited to): 

  • Manage mechanical design solutions for our construction projects or RHBs, including tooling, fixtures, and workstations. 
  • Coordinate with other members of the project team, manufacturing team, contractors, and other engineers to ensure that mechanical systems are integrated into the overall design effectively.
  • Conduct site inspections to ensure that mechanical systems and equipment are installed and maintained to the required standards.
  • Identify and manage risks associated with mechanical systems and equipment during construction projects.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to other members of the project team, including contractors and engineers.
  • Understand when systems and tooling require PE stamps and ensure success. 
  • Develop and maintain relationships with clients, contractors, and suppliers to ensure that projects are delivered to the required standards.
  • Ability to travel to construction sites as needed (10-30% depending on workload at site each week). 

What You Will Bring: 

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field, or equivalent work experience 
  • 6+ years of experience in mechanical engineering with a focus on construction 
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Experience working on construction sites and communicating with all levels of a construction team
  • Ability to communicate technical information to a non-technical audience
  • Strong proficiency with mechanical design software, such as SolidWorks
  • Knowledge of industry regulations and safety standards related to mechanical systems and equipment in construction projects.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and manage risks associated with mechanical systems and equipment in construction projects.
  • PE Certification a plus
  • BIM experience is also a plus

This position necessitates being onsite at our Headquarters in Alameda, California, plus travel to various CA locations up to 30% of the time. The estimated annual salary range for this role will be $140,000 - $175,000. It will be eligible for all Rondo benefits listed below, as well as equity in the company.
