Responsibilities and Duties  

Provide engineering support for existing bulk powder handling and processing steps on the production line. Review quality non-conformances and work with manufacturing and external teams to develop response strategies. Analyze production performance, investigate upset conditions, lead root cause analysis investigations, and implement corrective actions to maintain high overall equipment effectiveness (OEE) and high product quality yields. Lead the development and optimization of new production processes for existing and future production lines. Collaborate with multiple teams to lead the design, implementation, and management of scalable manufacturing systems that drive efficiency, quality, and safety of our production process. Train colleagues, junior engineers, Operations, and Maintenance on the fundamentals of and best operating practices for technologies such as powder handling, milling, particle screening, and magnetic separation.

Knowledge and Skill Requirements 

Master’s degree or foreign equivalent in industrial, chemical, mechanical engineering, or a closely related field.

Three (3) years of experience in job offered or software development.

Any amount of experience in additional requirements section below will be acceptable unless specific amount is noted.

*All experience can be concurrent* Additional requirements: Prior academic background or work experience must include three (3) years of post-bachelor's progressive experience in all of the following:

1) Bulk powder handling, milling, particle screening, and magnetic separation.

2) Production support, equipment troubleshooting, and process design.

3) Application of structured root cause analysis, Eight Disciplines (8D), and 5 Why problem-solving methods.

4) Production and quality data statistical analysis using JMP and Tableau

5) Use of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), Management of Change (MOC), Process & Product Monitoring, Statistical Process Control (SPC), Quality Management Systems (QMS), Process Hazard Analysis, and Incident Reporting work processes.

6) Interpretation of analytical results from Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET), Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), and Particle Size Distribution (PSD) analytical methods.

 

The starting base pay for this role is between $155,958 and $173,000 at the time of posting. The actual base pay depends on many factors, such as education, experience, and skills. Base pay is only one part of Sila’s competitive Total Rewards package that can include benefits, perks, equity, and bonuses.  The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.
