Reports To: Director, Commercial Business Operations & Strategy

ChargePoint’s Business Operations & Strategy team provides strategic direction and defines solutions to serve our commercial and fleet customers and EV (Electric Vehicle) Driver users. We also ensure that our products are well-connected within the broader energy and transportation ecosystems, working with stakeholders from utilities to demand response energy management (DERMS) to other clean energy technologies from solar to batteries to building management and energy efficiency. Our portfolio of solutions addresses the needs of various segments through a combination of hardware, software, services, and purchase models that match our customers’ goals.  

We are looking for an intellectually curious, analytical, creative, collaborative, user-centric, and strategic thinker who can communicate complex concepts in a structured way and drive alignment across a wide array of stakeholders. 

What You Will Be Doing 

As the Senior Manager, Energy and Utility Partnerships and Strategy you will lead ChargePoint’s strategy to maximize solution value for Energy & Utility partners and build and maintain partnerships across the ecosystem that result in increased sales of ChargePoint technologies. As an integral part of the North American Go to Market Team, you will work closely with energy and utility partners, product, marketing, sales and business development leaders, and other cross-functional stakeholders to define the future of how electrified transportation interacts with the grid, utilities and other distributed energy resources. 

 

In this role you will: 

  • Craft North American strategy for playing in the energy services ecosystem including the business models, products and partnerships needed to lead in this rapidly evolving space.  
  • Apply expertise in business strategy, product planning, customer discovery and product development to gain alignment on the solution vision, inform product planning, prioritization, and development. 
  • Work with sales team to ensure ChargePoint products qualify for and get listed in new utility incentive programs. 
  • Manage ingress and requirements for utility and DERMS programs, decide which ones to prioritize and communicate about any additional requirements  
  • Execute data sharing agreements with utilities for customer incentive programs where CHPT has qualified equipment through RFPs 
  • Recruit, design, negotiate and implement new partnerships with energy ecosystem partners that drive sales of ChargePoint technology 
  • Lead in a highly matrixed cross-functional organization across Product, Marketing, Sales and Service, and Operations teams, aligning on market opportunity and needs, business priorities, and guiding the company as solutions are planned and introduced to the market. 
  • Track market trends and competitive offerings, interface with customers and sales teams to ensure product direction and capabilities meet fleet market needs and customer satisfaction goals. 

 

What You Will Bring to ChargePoint 

  • 5+ years of experience in business development or corporate strategy roles.  
  • Deep understanding of the energy space with experience working with utilities, retail electric providers, DERMS providers, or other electric grid systems and technologies 
  • Demonstrated history of developing and selling energy products and services  
  • Experience navigating partnerships through complex negotiations and contract structuring 
  • Self-initiated ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-throughput environment 
  • Experience with business model development and P&L analysis 
  • Excellent project management and cross-functional leadership skills 
  • Knowledge of the electric grid systems, markets, and technologies 
  • Strong Excel, Tableau, and other data analysis and financial modeling skills.  
  • Ability to navigate ambiguity, work independently and be able to chart direction of projects/programs.  
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to manage multiple and diverse stakeholders across businesses and leadership levels.  
  • Excellent cross- functional team player.  
  • B.S., undergraduate degree.  Experience in modelling energy systems and economics and/or MBA or equivalent is preferred.

ChargePoint is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. 

The targeted US salary range for roles at this operating level is $85,000 to $184,500. This range represents base salary and does not reflect equity, benefits or variable pay where applicable. Actual base salaries are based on several factors unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, experience, certifications and specific work location.
