As the Senior Legal Counsel, India, your role will not be limited to the operations of Fluence in India. Of course, providing excellent legal advice to the colleagues in our India office will be a part of the job. But as an integral part of the APAC legal team, you will also be asked to work on the Fluence business in the wider APAC region. Fluence has projects in India, Taiwan, Philippines and Australia and you may be involved in the sales, delivery and maintenance of energy storage systems in one or more of these countries. Additionally, you may be asked to advise on procurement contracts, and all sorts of corporate issues in India and within the APAC region, as well as employment law and compliance. As the Senior Legal Counsel in India, you will be the first person the management of our India business turns to when in need of legal advice.

·        You have a solid legal background with a minimum of 6-8 years of experience in drafting, reviewing, interpreting, and negotiating supply, services, and construction contracts. You have also seen and worked on a wide variety of other matters that come across the table of an in-house lawyer.

·        Ideally, you have some experience in industrial equipment, construction or p projects.  If your experience comes from the renewable energy or energy storage sector, we might think you are very fancy indeed.

·        You have a good grasp of commercial contracting law, corporate compliance and employment law. 

·        You are interested in IT, Legal Tech, and improving the processes of a legal department.

·        You read legalese fluently, but you never, ever speak legalese.  You enjoy boring your family and friends with your vast knowledge of legal matters that come up in the life of an international group of companies.

·        You probably began your career by laboring happily in a swanky law firm or have been exposed to the joy of an in-house legal department. 

·        You have good working knowledge of applicable local standards, codes and regulations.

·        You have impeccable ethics and a commitment to compliance and safety. (We don’t make jokes about compliance or safety.)

·        You exude strong interpersonal skills, flexibility and a highly self-motivated work style. In a room full of industrial-grade rock stars, you’ll blend in like a chameleon.

·        You are based in Bengaluru. We have a fancy office here that we’d love you to help fill.

·        This role will support not just India, but to some extent the whole APAC region.  The subject matter, technical details and personalities will be numerous and varied.

·        Most Fluence people wear multiple hats.  On any given day you might provide overflow legal support on any topic, from contracting to employment law, privacy, intellectual property, real estate, or simply corporate governance.  Nobody at Fluence says “that’s not my job!”

·        Strong English oral and written skills is a “must”.

Fluence works closely with customers as their trusted advisor throughout their journey and provides advisory, financing, and project lifecycle services.

·        You aren’t expected to arrive at Fluence being an expert in energy storage.  You’ll climb the learning curve quickly.

·        Our customers value us for our expertise, and this role will be on the front lines, interacting with customers frequently.  Soon you’ll know more about energy storage than most other lawyers in the world.
