The Role:

As Senior Flight Test Instrumentation Engineer, you will be working in our growing Flight Test Team, reporting to the Engineering Manager-Flight Test Instrumentation, and aiding in building up the flight test infrastructure here at Lilium.

You will be responsible for leading technical and operational activities related to instrumentation specifications, including sensors selection, design of installation and wiring diagrams, sensors calibration, signal conditioning, parameters tapping, data validation, tracking and recording, documentation and conformity.

Your Day to Day:

  • Communicate with different Engineering teams to define appropriate instrumentation requirements.
  • Lead instrumentation design activities.
  • Provide general instrumentation specifications (sensors, diagrams, calibration, data validation, data tracking, data recording, etc.).
  • Evaluate instrumentation installations for functioning and safety.
  • Define, produce, and maintain FTI processes and procedures (metadata handling, measurements control, calibration, etc.).
  • Documentation of performed work.
  • Specific projects and tasks assigned by management.

Your Profile:

  • B.Sc/M.Sc/M.Eng or equivalent degree in system engineering, electrical engineering or a related field required.
  • At least 5 years of proven experience in a flight test environment.
  • Experience with Part 21 certification process for FTI installations.
  • Profound knowledge of airborne data acquisition and record systems.
  • Profound knowledge of sensors (accelerometers, RTDs, strain gauges, pressure transducers, etc.) and airborne test systems (ADS, differential GPS, cameras, etc.).
  • Comprehensive knowledge of digital bus formats: CAN-BUS, ARINC-429, RS-232/422/485, ARINC-664, ethernet, etc.
  • Experience with data processing and analysis.
  • CAD software experience beneficial.
  • Programming experience beneficial.
  • High level of self-confidence, with the ability to work in a team as well as autonomously.
  • Target-oriented, driven workstyle with analytic problem-solving skills required.
  • Fluent English language skills are essential, German language skills would be beneficial.
