About the Role:

Reporting directly to the VP of Finance, the Senior Financial Analyst, FP&A will play a pivotal role in ensuring the accuracy of financial forecasts, analyzing key financial metrics, and providing actionable insights to drive strategic decision-making. This role is integral to maintaining financial stability, guiding Loam's growth initiatives, and ensuring timely and informed business decisions.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to gather necessary data and insights for accurate forecasting and analysis.
  • Develop and maintain complex financial models to provide real-time and forward-looking forecasts.
  • Analyze and interpret financial data, identifying trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Prepare and present clear and concise reports to senior management, highlighting key financial metrics and insights.
  • Utilize key financial metrics to perform in-depth analysis of forecasted performance and proactively recommend adjustments as needed.
  • Monitor and evaluate business performance against established financial goals and provide actionable recommendations to enhance financial outcomes.
  • Partner with various departments to support budgeting processes, providing insights and guidance on financial implications of business decisions.
  • Assist in the preparation of executive-level presentations for board meetings, investor communications, and other high-level discussions.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends, economic developments, and best practices in FP&A to continuously improve forecasting accuracy and analysis techniques.
  • Gradually transition into overseeing day-to-day accounting operations, applying the insights and skills you've gained to lead, mentor, and guide the payroll administrator, setting the stage for your role as their direct manager and a vital leader within our organization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field; MBA or relevant advanced degree is a plus.
  • Strong experience in financial planning and analysis, preferably in a startup company.
  • Strong proficiency in financial modelling, data analysis, and advanced Excel skills.
  • Excellent understanding of key financial concepts, metrics, and accounting principles.
  • Proven experience in creating accurate and timely financial forecasts.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and presentation abilities, capable of conveying complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
  • Experience with financial planning software or ERP systems is a plus.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Strong business acumen and the ability to translate financial insights into actionable recommendations.
  • Some leadership or people management experience is advantageous
