Lightship is an early-stage hardware startup launched in 2020 by Tesla alumni that is bringing the $26B recreational vehicle industry into the electric age. Based in San Francisco and Boulder, Lightship is designing and producing an aerodynamic, battery-powered trailer that liberates travelers from the noise, emissions, and range anxiety of gas RVing.
About the Role
Lightship’s mission to modernize and electrify RVs demands building cutting edge electronics and controls. As a Senior Electronics Technician, you will work in the lab and collaborate with engineers and technicians on electronics to create an exciting product. You will assemble, test, debug, and repair circuit boards and clearly document the status of hardware. This role will also be responsible for lab management.
Responsibilities
Assemble, install, repair, troubleshoot, and maintain electronic components, PCBAs, and systems.Determine requirements and install modifications as set forth by engineering drawings, engineering change notices, schematic diagrams, and other applicable documentationTest and troubleshoot printed circuit boards using power supplies and other equipmentOwnership of PCBA checkout and logging of issues on returned PCBAs.Source or fabricate replacement parts for electronic systemsEngage in system-level testing and debuggingCarry out scheduled preventative maintenance and service equipmentAdhere to electrical safety, ROHS and ESD protocolsOrganize and help maintain the electronics labParticipate in PCB design review processTravel up to 10% to support engineering builds and troubleshooting in the fieldMinimum Qualifications
High school degree or equivalent8 years experience working with hardware systemsProficient with electronic lab tools (multimeter, oscilloscope, thermocouples, etc.)Experience creating prototype wire harnesses for device bring-upAbility to read electrical schematics and datasheetsExperience in visual board inspection, PCB level component testing, and troubleshootingExcellent PCBA soldering skills, including SMD components up to 0402, QFNGood hand-eye coordination and physical dexterityExperience working with high voltage DC (~400V) and AC (~240V)Attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality workExcellent written and verbal communication skills with demonstrated cross-functional teamworkPreferred Qualifications

Lightship compensation consists of the hourly rate above plus equity, which gives you a stake in the company.
