Senior Corporate Counsel

Helion is hiring an attorney with corporate and commercial experience to help the company grow and meet its mission.  In a little over a year we’ve nearly tripled in size and operations, and that brings with it lots of challenges but also opportunities.  We need support across the board in contract negotiations, corporate management, working with talent, and more.  We would also like you to be willing to get your feet wet over time in new areas, such as regulatory or intellectual property.  This position provides a unique opportunity to solve tough multidisciplinary problems and grow your expertise, working closely with the Helion leadership and technical teams. 

What You’ll be Doing – 

In this position, you will work with the General Counsel to manage the corporate & commercial work at Helion.  You will also work with the Helion leadership and technical teams. Your work will involve:   

• Negotiating contracts along a wide spectrum of topics (including first-of-a-kind arrangements, important business deals, and IP transactions)
• Managing internal corporate affairs, such as board meetings and equity issues
• Working closely with the talent team to address questions and staffing matters
• Working with outside counsel, including managing scope and budgets
• As you develop, supporting on novel regulatory and IP protection questions

Beyond supporting these critical aspects of the company’s mission, we will want you to execute new projects to improve our processes, develop new tools and materials to help the business move faster, and think out of the box to improve how we operate.

About you -

• JD with private practice experience in some or all of the following:
• Corporate law and governance
• Commercial contracts
• Employment law
• Strong writing skills
• Experience working with clients and/or state and local government bodies
• Experience taking ownership over challenging tasks in fast-moving situations
• Interest in clean energy and working with a world-changing technology!  While an engineering background is not required, we are seeking individuals willing to dive into complex issues that mix technology and law
