Hysata is an Australian green hydrogen technology company headquartered in Wollongong, New South Wales, that designs and manufactures high-efficiency electrolysers for the production of green hydrogen. The company's core mission is to accelerate the decarbonisation of hard-to-abate sectors by making green hydrogen economically competitive through a step-change improvement in electrolyser efficiency and system design. Hysata's electrolysers achieve a world-leading 95% system efficiency, equivalent to 41.5 kWh per kilogram of hydrogen, which surpasses the International Renewable Energy Agency's 2050 efficiency target and has been validated through publication in the peer-reviewed journal Nature Communications.
Hysata's technology is distinguished by a drastically simplified balance of plant, modular architecture, and a design philosophy optimised for mass manufacturing, all of which contribute to delivering the lowest Levelised Cost of Hydrogen (LCOH) for customers. The company offers a turn-key electrolyser solution intended to transform the economics of green hydrogen production globally. Backed by leading strategic and financial investors, Hysata is scaling rapidly toward multi-gigawatt manufacturing capacity.
The company has secured notable partnerships and commercial agreements, including deals with ACWA Power and POSCO Holdings, and has received support through Australia's Hydrogen Headstart funding programme. Hysata has also been recognised for its workplace culture, winning a Best Startup Culture award in 2024, and continues to engage with policymakers and international stakeholders to advance the green hydrogen industry.
About us
Hysata is on a mission to accelerate the shift from fossil fuels to green hydrogen with the world’s most efficient electrolyser. Our breakthrough capillary-fed electrolyser achieves an unprecedented 95% system efficiency (41.5 kWh/kg) – a step change from incumbent technologies, which typically sit at ~75% and already ahead of International Renewable Energy Agency’s 2050 target. This leap in performance enables a radically simpler system design, slashing both energy use (opex) and system and renewables capex.
Hysata’s innovation has captured global attention, including publication in Nature Communications and support from leading strategic and financial investors such as BP, POSCO and Vestas. With over 100 team members, we’re a high-performing, purpose-driven company, proud to be 35% women, representing 20+ nationalities, and united by a shared mission to enable the decarbonisation of hard-to-abate sectors such as steel, chemical manufacturing, shipping and aviation.
Having secured Australia’s largest ever cleantech Series B raise of US$111 million, Hysata is scaling rapidly to bring our technology to market. With strong customer demand and a clear path to manufacturing at scale, we are on track to become a global leader in green hydrogen and put a major dent in global emissions.
About the role
It is now time to refine and expand our manufacturing capacity to meet customer demand, so we are seeking a Senior CNC Machinist for our in-house workshop to support the manufacture of prototypes and early production parts for our groundbreaking technology. No two days are the same at Hysata. You will be joining a team of smart, driven, collaborative and highly resolute individuals who are passionate in solving engineering challenges and who are excited to be fighting the climate crisis.
Role responsibilities
- Analyse components for manufacture and decide upon the best approach that maintains required quality while simultaneously manufacturing the components in a timely manner, utilising our CNC VMC Mills, water jet and laser cutter, 3D printers and other manual machinery;
