We are looking for a Senior Capital Cost Estimator to join our Product Engineering team. You will use your experience to estimate the cost of fabricating and deploying first-of-a-kind, industrial-scale hydrogen electrolysis plants. You will work as the cost estimation subject matter expert on the small and dedicated team that is deploying our plants. Your work will directly influence design direction and overall company success, as we reduce the cost of green hydrogen to decarbonize hydrogen production. You will be based in San Carlos, CA and will work on a hybrid basis.

You will split time between our offices in San Jose and San Carlos, CA with an allowable hybrid work schedule. Depending on the phase of the project, up to 20% of your time might be best spent at vendors' sites or on project sites. You will report to the Lead, Product Design, Costing and Configuration.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Subject matter expert for industrial project cost estimating, benchmark analysis, and cost analysis
  • Generate cost estimates to support the work of sales, engineering, supply chain and deployment teams.
  • Provide advice and analysis to support cost-effective project development
  • Conduct peer reviews for capital project estimates.
  • Manage contractor development of estimates and estimate basis including participating in contract bid evaluations.
  • Reconcile cost estimates with cost actuals during project development.
  • Provide expert thought leadership, using additional research and interpretation to identify issues or problems.
  • Provide direction to supporting team members and be a strategic contributor.
  • Up to 20% travel to contractor, vendor and customer sites depending on project phase

Qualifications

  • BS in mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, construction management, or equivalent
  • Capital cost estimate generation using industrial cost databases, spreadsheets (can perform complex functions) , Aspen Capital Cost Estimator, or similar tools.
  • 8+ years of experience taking projects from the conceptual estimating phase, through deployment and verification with actual costs.

$152,000$205,000 USD

Actual base salary offered to the hired applicant will be determined based on their work location, level, qualifications, job-related skills, as well as relevant education or training and experience.​
