About the Role
As a Senior Accountant, you will be core in helping to establish the Accounting department, including creating and refining policies and procedures that will aid in scaling the company as it expands. You will provide direct support to the Accounting Manager in all aspects of internal and external reporting and month-end close, from processing payments to preparing monthly account reconciliations to reviewing financial statements. You will also be responsible for recording and analyzing manufacturing costs associated with inventory, sales and cost of goods sold. You will provide audit support and will work on special Accounting-related projects, including an ERP implementation. You will work cross functionally with all departments as this business is being built from the ground up. Preparation of monthly workpapers to support balance sheet accountsJournal entry preparation and booking across all areas of the businessCost and variance analysis of labor, materials and production and inventoryProcessing growing volume of accounts payable, including vouching to POs and accurate coding to proper GL accounts Managing employee expense cards, including the issuance of new cards, monitoring receipt submission and proper account codingCompliance of business tax filings and ad hoc tax issues that ariseAudit support for company’s first annual audit taking place after year endAssist in the documentation of financial internal controls, as well as the implementation of additional controls as neededFixed asset trackingFinancial statement review in accordance with GAAPAssist with various components of ERP implementation, including data migration, system configuration and testing before go-live Data analysis as needed for financial review or management/auditor inquiryAd-hoc projects based on accounting and business needsMinimum Qualifications
5+ years of experience in accounting, working frequently with financial statements; industry experience with early stage hardware companies is preferredBachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field. CPA certification is a plusKnowledge of GAAP requirementsDeep understanding of AP function, including accrual process for proper month-end cut-off proceduresAbility to reconcile accounts, including resolving account discrepancies and tying supporting schedules to source documentation Prior experience with audit preparation and procedures Comfort with ad-hoc projects, including tax related Preferred Qualifications
