Position: Scientist I, Bioinformatics  

We are seeking a Bioinformatics Scientist to join our Bioinformatics team and help us build new products that will help farmers advance their crop management practices.  Come join our quickly growing scientific team and help drive innovation in agriculture!  

Responsibilities: 

  • Develop bioinformatics pipelines to analyze and interpret transcriptomic and genomic data  
  • Perform bioinformatics analyses that inform scientists about the functional potential of bacteria from NGS-sequencing data  
  • Independently initiate bioinformatics projects to advance our knowledge of the metabolic diversity present in plant microbiomes 
  • Collaborate with research and field scientists to advise, design, and analyze sequencing and lab experiments 
  • Combine multiple datasets to predict the metabolic flux within microbial communities of reduced complexity 

Qualifications and Experience 

  • Ph.D. in Bioinformatics, Biostatistics, Molecular Biology, or equivalent training  
  • Preferred 1+ years’ industry experience analyzing data from next generation sequencing (NGS).   
  • Proficiency in Python, R, and source code control tools such as git.  
  • Experience with Linux/UNIX operating systems, the AWS ecosystem, High Performance Computing systems, and databases like LIMS and/or SQL.  
  • Strong communication, data presentation, and documentation skills  
  • Prior hands-on laboratory or plant microbiome experience is desirable.   
  • Proactive problem solver with interest in joining a fast-paced start-up culture
