Plenty is looking for a Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP) Director to join our Sales and Business Development (BD) team with strong cross-functional alignment to our Operations team. The mission of the team is to enable and accelerate profitable growth, and you’ll be critical in scaling up our forecasting and planning capabilities to ensure we can deliver on our customer and company commitments.
As the S&OP Director, you will be responsible for the company’s mission-critical planning process, which will enable the launch and expansion of the world’s most advanced vertical farm in Compton, CA. An effective and efficient S&OP program is a critical driver of the success of the farm, and this role will have a big impact and executive visibility.
- Lead the company’s Sales & Operations Planning program, enabling the expansion of Plenty’s business through the scaling of our new farm in Compton
- Develop a fully integrated demand planning practice, driving to a high-quality and low-error forecast by week/SKU (stock keeping unit) and adjusting forecasts based on changes in demand and market trends
- Collaborate with Farm Operations to drive an effective forecast conversion to production plan, incorporating guidance and data from the Farm Operations and Grower teams
- Build out accurate and efficient risk-management models to assess fulfillment implications of S&OP forecasts and balance risk of over/under-supply
- Build out the underlying data strategy and structure to effectively collect forecasting inputs from Plenty’s customer base. Set up a comprehensive CPFR (Collaborative Planning, Forecasting and Replenishment) process with key customers
- Drive alignment with leadership on goals and objectives around S&OP parameters such as forecast accuracy, total farm loss rates, inventory turns, excess and obsolete stock, and more
- Partner closely with BD/Sales, Marketing, Farm Operations, Finance and other functions to build planning capabilities across the company and ensure S&OP alignment with other planning workstreams
- Partner with Financial Systems and IT teams to build out the Demand Planning and other systems required to support S&OP
- Serve as an all-around team player that can jump into new opportunities as they arise
- Travel up to 15% of the time

- 10+ years of experience in Planning (Demand Planning, Supply Planning, or Supply Chain Optimization)
- Specific experience in the areas of S&OP, Demand Planning, Supply Planning and CPFR (Collaborative Planning, Forecasting and Replenishment)
- Demonstrated track record in managing teams and working effectively across all functions and organizations
- Experience in leading planning systems design and deployment such as Anaplan, Kinaxis, O9, SAP IBP or equivalent
- Demonstrated skills in facilitating cross functional meetings with senior executives
- Excellent executive communication skills and ability to drive effective executive alignment on business priorities
- Excellent quantitative analysis and problem solving skills
- Demonstrated ability in performing in a fast-paced, changing, and demanding environment

Food & Safety Requirements

- Participate and lead in the annual Management review of the Food Safety and quality system
- Ensure appropriate allocation of resources for food safety and quality and responsible for Food Safety at Plenty
Plenty’s target compensation range for this role is $135,500 - $149,000 for this location. Actual compensation is commensurate with experience and alignment with role requirements.
