About the company:

David Energy is a New York City-based energy provider that helps businesses lower their electric bills through a combination of free plug-in battery systems and smarter energy supply management. The company charges batteries when grid power is cheapest and discharges them during peak or expensive periods, reducing the demand and infrastructure costs that typically make up a large portion of commercial utility bills. Customers pay nothing for the batteries, installation, or maintenance, and receive transparent monthly reporting comparing what they pay David Energy versus what they would have paid their utility. David Energy operates as a licensed electricity supplier in New York, meaning customers receive two bills: one from David Energy for electricity supply and one from their utility for delivery infrastructure. The company also provides complementary services at no additional cost, including bill monitoring to catch errors and scams, smart thermostat management for multi-location businesses, and dedicated energy advisors who proactively guide clients on further savings opportunities. David Energy's model is positioned within the broader green energy transition, addressing the growing strain on grid infrastructure caused by electrification trends and AI data center demand. By optimizing when and how businesses draw power from the grid, the company contributes to more efficient energy consumption and reduced peak-load pressure, which supports a cleaner and more resilient urban energy system. The company has been featured in news coverage highlighting adoption by NYC retailers and food service businesses, and differentiates itself through a partner-oriented, high-engagement customer service approach.

About David Energy

David Energy is creating a new kind of power company. We offer cheaper and cleaner energy than traditional Retail Electricity Providers (REPs) can, and we do so economically because we can tap into renewable supply (e.g. solar) and controllable capacity (e.g. batteries) anywhere it exists, including "behind" customers’ electricity meters. We’re a series A company aiming to run the grid on clean energy 24/7/365.

We’re rapidly scaling our "Beat the Utility" product which guarantees small commercial customers that their total electric spend will be less than their incumbent utility. We can make this guarantee because our technology and risk management unlock value that is not available to the utility. We're currently operating in NYC (NYISO Zone J) and scaling toward hundreds of new customer locations per month, with plans to expand to additional zones and ISOs across the Northeast.

We are looking for a Risk Manager to lead our risk management function as David Energy enters its next phase of growth. The ideal candidate will use their extensive experience in retail and wholesale power markets to lead establishing a risk management function for a first-of-its-kind business that is redefining the power sector. We invite you to apply for this role if you have

  • Exceptional ability to communicate clearly and precisely

  • 8+ years of work experience in retail energy, energy trading, and energy risk management

  • Strong working knowledge of energy markets (e.g., NYISO, ERCOT, PJM, ISO-NE)

  • Strong data analytics skills
