The RF-Electrical Engineer position is an integral part of the RF Heating team and will aid in the design, prototyping and testing of low power, RF circuits for the RF Heating System on SPARC.  Specific assignments will be determined by the SRO in conjunction with the engineering staff.

This role will be hybrid with our Somerville, MA location.

Primary responsibilites include but are not limited to:

  • Design of RF power detection and measurement circuits that will interface with the control and data collection system of SPARC.
  • Design of RF circuitry using PCB level components such as mixers, detectors, attenuators, phase shifters, etc.
  • Work within a multi-disciplinary team of engineers and technicians to develop and qualify high-power RF equipment.
  • Perform R&D and prototype builds, and perform RF testing on these devices
  • Develop manufacturing processes specific to RF components
  • Troubleshoot and resolve manufacturing discrepancies with a focus on continuous improvement  
  • Communicate challenges and ideas effectively to peers and leadership
  • Operate production and testing equipment

  • Required Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (Master’s Preferred)
  • Required Experience:

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience with circuit design program, such as Altium, OrCad.
  • Experience with RF measurement equipment such as: Network & Spectrum analyzers, RF power meters.
  • Preferred Experience:

  • Experience with RF/Microwave circuit analysis software such as CST, ADS, Genesys.
  • Soldering of RF components on circuit boards
  • Electrical schematic and wiring layouts
  • Knowledge/Skills:

  • Commitment to safety and quality 
  • Ability to take directions from leadership and work independently 
  • Desire to work and contribute in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills 
  • Ability and patience to work through projects from start to finish, including assembly and testing
