We’re looking for someone who’s excited to be part of a mission-driven early-stage company. As our Research Associate - Tissue Culture, you will play an essential role developing tissue culture regeneration systems in woody species. You will be supporting development of conifer regeneration systems while carrying out other experiments to achieve company goals. A successful candidate will have experience with plant biotechnology lab experimental approaches with demonstrated application in a plant tissue culture. You will also have the opportunity to contribute to the company’s strategic goals and think creatively about how to move quickly and solve problems.

Responsibilities

  • Support and perform tissue culture experiments.  
  • Maintain, organize, and track production-level amounts of cultures.
  • Execute protocols in a thorough, independent, and technical manner.
  • Maintain a detailed record of experimental data and analysis.
  • Perform vital functions of pipeline support, including media making.
  • Timely communication and ability to adapt to experimental workflow while developing new skills.
  • Nurture the desire to work in an exciting and rapidly evolving work environment.
  • Provide technical support to research projects relating to plant tissue culture pipeline development.
  • Requirements

  • Associate or Bachelor degree in plant science or related field and experience.
  • Hands-on experience with plant tissue culture systems and aseptic technique is required. Previous experience with suspension cultures is preferred.  
  • Experience with somatic embryogenesis, especially in conifers such as pine or other woody species, is highly desirable, but not required.
  • Familiarity with plant transformation processes is desirable. 
  • Proven capacity to carry out multiple experiments simultaneously.
  • Fundamental knowledge of and subsequent application in plant tissue culture.
  • Ability to work within a team to efficiently tackle high-throughput experiments. 
  • Strong interpersonal skills with effective oral and written communication.
  • Excellent organization, with strong attention to details.
