Role Summary

This position is responsible for the planning and execution of daily railcar loading and shipping, including oversight of KPI adherence, pre-tripping of railcars on spot, communication with TTX and Class 1 railroad partners on equipment needs and issues, and cooperation with Yard Ops teams in the staging of rail-assigned vehicles. This position will work during an 8-12 hour period 5 days a week dependent on business need. The position is also responsible for training rail loading team on proper adherence to American Association of Railroads policy and procedure and will be responsible to always have the rail team prepared for an unannounced AAR audit.

 

Responsibilities

  • Schedule and direct personnel to pre-trip and load railcars
  • Coach and mentor staff
  • Document performance issues and coordinate all corrective actions
  • Apply progressive disciplinary process in the areas of counseling, coaching, warnings and other corrective actions to ensure that a productive labor climate exists
  • Ensure all AAR and Rivian policies and procedures are followed
  • Approve hourly associate work to ensure accurate payroll
  • Hold carrier accountable for railcar supply
  • Ensure timely spotting and pulling of railcars
  • Ensure load density is optimized, always taking FIFO into consideration
  • Forecast railcar needs
  • Ensure staffing costs are within budget
  • Oversee maintenance of rail vans and loading ramps

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and 6+ years experience in outbound distribution or equivalent experience in lieu of degree.
  • Advanced skills with Word, Excel, Outlook, Inventory Control systems and Time & Attendance software
  • Ability to adhere to strict quality standards without variance
  • Must have a good sense of balance and can maintain 3 points of contact when working on rail cars
  • Ability to work both indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions
  • Must be able to work in tight spaces when loading vehicles
  • Must be able to work at heights approximately 15 feet above the ground
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs over your head
  • Must be assertive and strictly enforce Rivian, AAR and FRA policies
  • Minimum age of 21
  • No driving related suspensions or revocation of Driver License (within a 3-5 year period)
  • No drug or alcohol related driving incidents in the last 3 years
  • No more than 1 serious moving violation in the last 3 years
  • Must have a valid driver's license in the state of residence that you will be driving/operating a vehicle
  • Will be subject to continuous Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) monitoring
