What You Will Be Doing:
The Quartz Glassblower will be assisting and working independently to provide flameworking support for our Quartz team. This person will work to support quartz fabrications that will be used directly and indirectly on our fusion machine.
You Will:
- Work with quartz welding plate assemblies and cutting/grinding operations
- Handle hand and lathe glassblowing operations
- Fabricate with small quartz assemblies (<3mm)
- Assist with large-scale glassblowing operations (>300mm)
- Clean quartz glass tubing and plate
- Assist in the resolution of technical problems
- Read work orders, follow production drawings, and receive verbal and written instructions to perform job-specific tasks
- Position and align parts in relation to each other within a fixture, lathe, or manually (using tweezers, vacuum chuck, or hand instruments)
- Load and unload annealing ovens and check parts for stress and/or vacuum leaks
- Maintain a safe, organized, and clean work area
About You:
- Able to analyze and interpret blueprints and workorders for various operations
- Able to assess and compile a materials list to complete work orders and assigned tasks
- Experience working with tight tolerance, high-value components
- Experience in working on multiple projects in parallel with day-to-day tasks
- Experience with vacuum-facing quartz assemblies
- Able to work independently and within a team
Desired:
- Experience with tooling and fixture design
- Experience with other glass types, i.e. borosilicate, aluminosilicate, or grading glasses
- Solidworks or similar CAD software experience
- Kiln operation/repair knowledge
- Experience with conventional and CNC mills and lathes
- NC programming skills, preferably Mastercam
Per Washington Equal Pay and Opportunity Act the range for this position is $25/hr- 50/hr . Actual salary is based on education, experience, and other qualifying skill sets.
