Calibration Technician Job Description: 
We are searching for a detail-oriented calibration technician to join our technical staff. In this role, you will be traveling to
clients where you will carry out inspections, calibrations, and repairs on highly specialized equipment. You will also be responsible
for identifying faulty equipment and suggesting upgrades when necessary.
To be successful as a calibration technician, you should have a good eye for detail, excellent hand-eye coordination, and above-
average troubleshooting skills. Ultimately a top-class calibration technician will work quickly and methodically to ensure
equipment is safe for operation and calibrated to the industry standards.
 
Calibration Technician Responsibilities:
• Performing routine equipment maintenance.
• Calibrating equipment to industry standards.
• Troubleshooting equipment failures.
• Conducting equipment repairs.
• Responding to client queries.
• Suggesting equipment upgrades.
• Maintaining calibration equipment and supplies.
• Completing job cards and equipment reports.
 
Calibration Technician Requirements:
• A high school diploma or GED.
• Relevant industry certification.
• A minimum of 1 years experience as a calibration technician.
• Extensive experience with equipment maintenance and repairs.
• Advanced troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to stand, crouch, and kneel for extended periods.
• Excellent hand-eye coordination.
• Ability to travel when required.
• Competency with calibration software. 
 
Calibration Technician Duties and Responsibilities
While a calibration technician’s day-to-day duties and responsibilities are determined by where they work, there
are many core tasks associated with the role. Based on our analysis of job listings, these include:
Complete Calibrations
Calibration technicians use various tools to calibrate electrical, mechanical, and electronic instruments and
equipment. Their work ensures that recording, measuring, and indicating devices and equipment meet
established standards and consistently produce accurate and reliable results.
Conduct Routine Testing
Routine testing allows calibration technicians to determine if instruments and equipment are performing within
established ranges. Calibration technicians analyze test data to make decisions about the need for calibration,
repair, and maintenance.
Perform Maintenance
Regular maintenance is sometimes required to ensure instruments and equipment meet performance and
quality standards. Calibration technicians use systems and software to track, schedule, and perform
maintenance tasks.
Repair Equipment
Calibration technicians contribute to the repair of instruments, equipment and control systems. They may repair
these items themselves or provide support to other individuals and departments throughout the repair process.
Prepare Documentation and Reports
Calibration technicians document service through reports and other paperwork. They prepare calibration
certificates, data reports, and written recommendations for department heads and upper management.
