This role is hybrid in office 3 days per week and can be based from one of our locations in Arlington, VA / Alpharetta, GA / Houston, TX.

Job Description

Fluence is looking for a Mid-Level Project Engineer to join Fluence. We are the market leader in Energy storage. The role is to support the day-to-day technical tasks and support in management of interface between all the groups involved in the project. The candidate will be required to travel up to 25% to visit the project site. The Project Engineer will coordinate Fluence project teams with subcontractors including civil, electrical, and mechanical subcontractors to deliver Fluence energy-storage installations on time, budget, and spec. She or he will have a thorough grasp of relevant engineering issues, connection requirements, and regulatory environments and will handle several projects simultaneously.

As a Project Engineer at Fluence you will:

•Review Fluence equipment drawings package and include project specific changes. 
•Manage project daily technical tasks and serve as the technical point of contact for the project manager.
•Interface with an external engineering firm, subcontractors, and Clients and liaise with internal disciplines to drive the projects to conclusion.
•Build internal and external relationships with key suppliers, customers, and internal & external service providers.
•Review and submit single-line diagrams, schematics, and wiring diagrams for Battery storage systems.
•Support on prepare Electrical Equipment Specifications, Data Sheets, Purchase Requisitions, and Bid evaluations for inverters, Switchgear, Transformers, and other electrical equipment as required.
•Provide support to Project Procurement by drafting Construction and equipment specifications and performing technical reviews of vendor and subcontractor quotations.
•Support on reviewing and submitting short circuit, Load Flow, and Arc Flash documentation created by electrical engineers.
•Review and confirm the accuracy of the work performed and the methods used by engineering staff and contractors.
•Propose and oversee budgets and timelines for the engineering component of the project(s).
•Review internal and subcontractors’ designs to ensure compliance with project requirements and contractual obligations.

What will the ideal candidate bring to Fluence?

  • BS degree in Electrical Engineering is preferred, but other fields will be considered if the candidate has experience on utility companies.
  • At least 3 years of experience of prior relevant experience or master’s degree with at least 2 years of prior relevant experience
  • Experience in the Renewables industry (Battery Storage System, Solar plant, or Wind Power) is strongly preferred.
  • Strong experience with design software. AutoCAD is a most any 3D software is a plus.
  • Basic experience in the field of EPC Engineering in the region is preferred.
  • Basic knowledge and experience using some of the following applications: Excel; Word; Power System Study programs ETAP, SKM
  • Basic knowledge of Electrical System Design, System Studies, Relay Coordination, Protection & Control.
  • Familiarity with applicable codes, standards, and regulations used in Chile.
  • Basic understanding of Civil, Mechanical, and Structural work.
  • Ability to read and understand project owner specifications and engineering drawings.
  • Ability to manage subcontractors and drive the schedule of Engineering activities.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently.
  • Ability to work closely with colleagues to quickly learn and understand various processes regarding the company’s policies, procedures, and software programs.
  • Strong attention to detail, with the ability to recognize discrepancies.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work with clients and staff in a team environment.
  • Able to produce clear and concise documentation.
  • Ability to be flexible with the ability to manage change.
  • Strong work ethic – willing to do what it takes to get the job done.
  • Highly developed communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Must be able to work independently or with minimal supervision and still meet commitment deadlines.
  • Strong organizational, writing, presentation, and communication skills.
  • Fluent in written and spoken English and Spanish.
