Who You Are
Sila Nanotechnologies is for an experienced Project Controls Specialist for our Capital Projects team to develop, monitor, and manage capital project estimates, schedules, cost forecasts, and progress reports for our battery material factories and research centers.
You are an experienced project controls professional who will assist in the development and implementation of new project controls processes, systems, standards, and tools at Sila. You have excellent communication skills and are able to collaborate seamlessly with internal teammates and external contractors to monitor, analyze, and communicate project controls data, forecasts, and recommended changes.
Responsibilities and Duties
- The Project Controls Specialist will lead cost management, cost analysis, cost reporting and benchmarking throughout the various design phases and during project execution.
- Support change management and risk management process for design and construction.
- Perform trend analysis and actively evaluate project cost performance to identify potential risk areas and validate forecasts.
- Produce reports/dashboards to communicate cost performance to various teams.
- Work closely with project management and the project schedule to align spend curves with schedule activities.
- Maintain cost tools and reports to communicate project cost metrics and performance with the project team and senior managers so they can make informed decisions.
- Track historical cost to help develop up to date benchmarking data for estimating.
- Collaborate with project management to review and validate progress and spend curves. Link change management to latest estimate and schedule. Review contingency drawdown curve progression to assess effects on capital project costs. Review impact of risks and trends to project cost and schedule. Prepare project status reports and communicate budget/forecast areas of concern to the project team and Sila’s Finance team.
- Prepare and maintain project cash flow of actuals and forecasts. Work with contractors to determine monthly cash flow projections. Monitor and review invoices.
Knowledge and Skill Requirements
- Minimum 3 years of industry experience in project controls
- Project controls experience with multi-million dollar capital projects in a construction or manufacturing industry
- Experience with project budgets, cost tracking, forecast updates and implementing earned value principles.
- Strong MS Excel and presentation skills
- Experience with interpreting and maintaining project schedule using Primavera Cloud/P6, Microsoft Project or Smartsheet
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong organizational and time management skills, including the ability to meet deadlines.
- Move long distances (such as from building to building) and be stationary for extended periods of time
- 10-25% travel to and from build sites and engineering contractor’s offices

The starting base pay for this role is between $106,000 and $133,750 at the time of posting. The actual base pay within these ranges depends on many factors, such as education, experience, and skills. Base pay is only one part of Sila’s competitive Total Rewards package that can include benefits, perks, equity, and bonuses. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.
