Octopus Energy is at the forefront of the energy transition, making energy cheaper and greener through its cutting-edge technology. The flexibility team is building the next generation of products and tools to make energy more flexible, including automating electric vehicle charging, saving customers money by demand shifting through Saving Sessions and Free Electricity, and managing large grid-scale batteries to balance the system. The team develops products that are used by millions of customers, helping boost renewables use and decarbonise energy systems worldwide.

Following our launch of mass-market bidirectional electric vehicle charging with BYD, we are looking for a Vehicle-to-Everything (V2X) Programme Manager to join our fast growing team. This role will lead the charge as we work with a growing list of car and charger brands on automated V2X customer propositions.

Role Overview:
You will be responsible for the end-to-end delivery of our V2X programmes, from strategic planning and stakeholder management to execution and deployment. We are looking for a candidate with exceptional project management, organisation and coordination skills. Knowledge of the technical and regulatory landscape around V2X is a bonus, but not required as these can be picked up as you go. V2X is a highly complex topic that touches many parts of the wider energy ecosystem and spans the different businesses of the Octopus Energy Group.

You will need an appetite to take both a detailed dive into the topic while maintaining a high level view of the overarching objectives, all while managing and coordinating a wide range of stakeholders.

What you'll do:

  • Project Management: Take full ownership over multiple V2X programmes simultaneously keeping things moving smoothly towards our milestones
  • Strategy & Planning: Develop and execute the overall programme strategy and roadmap. This includes outlining project objectives and timelines, and managing programme risks and dependencies.
  • Stakeholder Management: Act as the primary point of contact for all internal and external stakeholders, including product managers, business development, and external partners.
  • Creative Thinking: Provide guidance and technical oversight to development teams working on V2X technologies. Apply a balanced and practical approach, drawing on an engineering mindset, to help shape the right solution.
  • Reporting & Communication: Ensure senior staff and stakeholders are kept informed with regular updates on programme status, milestones, and key measures.
  • What you'll need:

  • Undergraduate degree in Engineering, ideally in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • Experience contributing to complex projects.
  • Good organisational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • A proactive, entrepreneurial mindset with a creative yet practical approach to problem solving.

  • Nice to have:
  • Experience coordinating complex projects.
  • Understanding of the technical and regulatory V2X landscape.
  • Familiarity with the Kraken platform, especially the Residential Flexibility product.
  • Comfortable using project management tools, such as Asana.
