About the company:
C1 develops new, climate-friendly chemical production processes by rethinking chemical reactions from the atomic level all the way up to production scale.
The first innovation to spin out of our quantum-chemistry platform is a novel, proprietary methanol catalysis. This groundbreaking technology disrupts a century old chemical production process and enables us to unlock non-fossil feedstocks for the production of green methanol.
Green methanol will play a pivotal role in the defossilization of the carbon-based chemical industry and is poised to become the alternative fuel of choice for net-zero shipping. The market for green methanol is expected to grow to appr. $200 billion per year by 2050. The resulting CO2 saving potential of green methanol is several gigatons per year (several percentage points of current global CO2 emissions).
Our aim is to realize as much of that potential as fast as possible.
Your mission
Why this role
You want to operate a real chemical plant, not just design them on paper?
In this role, you work hands-on on our pilot plant in Leuna, ensure stable and safe operation, and act as the technical interface between plant operations, process simulation, and automation.
Real responsibility. Real hardware. Fast decisions.
About us
C1 Green Chemicals AG develops and scales a new chemical process for the production of green methanol from lab to demo scale. Our teams span catalysis labs, synthesis labs, engineering, and pilot facilities. In Leuna, we operate a pilot plant and test new processes under real operating conditions.
This is where data for the next scale-up step is generated.
What you do
• Operate, monitor, and optimize plant units and processes for safe and stable operation
• Troubleshoot and resolve process-related issues during ongoing operation
• Support commissioning, maintenance, and test campaigns for new plant
components or processes
• Act as technical interface to external partners for DCS, automation, and plant network
infrastructure
• Model, simulate, and evaluate gas–liquid reactors, with a focus on bubble column
reactors
• Analyze, interpret, and document process and experimental data
• Actively contribute to technical discussions and scale-up decisions
• Create and maintain process, operating, and safety documentation
