Job Summary
MycoWorks is seeking a person to fill the role of a Process Development Engineer. This person will support process understanding related to technology development and scale up in addition to MycoWorks’ Reishi™ and Hyphae™ SKU development through textile investigation. This individual will own the development of a reliable process that delivers the desired product(s) specs via design of experiment execution, technology transfer to operations, and cross collaborative work with the downstream development team(s) and external collaborators. 

This role interacts heavily with multiple internal and external organizations, including: Quality, Supply Chain, Tannery Partners, Product Management, and Operations. The role reports to the Senior Manager, Process Development. This role will require some travel within the United States and possibly internationally.

Responsibilities:

  • Design experiments for process and product development
  • Take experiments from design and execution to analysis and reporting results
  • Work with the product development plan, providing insight and feedback to the plan for iterative improvement 
  • Ensure process information is transferred to the operations team via standard creation and/ or updates, on floor training, and in process checks
  • Train and coach process development team members on design of experiment work
  • Development of process understanding in order to create a product that meets specs in a reliable and consistent manner
  • Work independently or part of a team to execute an experimental design
  • Collaborate with internal and external groups to successfully design, execute, and analyze experiments
  • Synthesize recommendations and next steps to experiments
  • Develop technical plan for SKU development and basic project management with internal and external collaborators

Qualifications:

  • BS in Material Science, Textile Engineering, or a similar field
  • 4-8 years’ experience in textile or apparel manufacturing and/or development
  • Knowledge of microbial systems a plus
  • Ability to work in an individual or team setting
  • Knowledge of statistical analysis and data reporting
  • Verbal and written communication, fluent in English
  • Experience with operations and production lines
  • Proficient in test plan creation, execution, reporting, and technology transfer
  • Ability to travel within the United States up to 20% of the time and occasionally internationally
  • Strategic problem solver with ability to manage external partnerships
