About the company:

Doing something different is never easy. It requires courage, optimism and grit. Core to our mission is building a team of adventurous individuals determined to make a positive impact on the world. This means challenging ourselves constantly. Stretching beyond the bounds of conventional thinking. Reframing old problems. Seeking new solutions. And operating comfortably in a space of uncertainty. While our backgrounds are diverse, our team shares a love of the outdoors and a desire to protect it for future generations. Do you like doing the impossible? We’d love to hear from you.

Rivian is on a mission to keep the world adventurous forever. This goes for the emissions-free Electric Adventure Vehicles we build, and the curious, courageous souls we seek to attract.

As a company, we constantly challenge what’s possible, never simply accepting what has always been done. We reframe old problems, seek new solutions and operate comfortably in areas that are unknown. Our backgrounds are diverse, but our team shares a love of the outdoors and a desire to protect it for future generations.

Rivian is looking for a Principal User Experience (UX) Designer to work with a world class team of UX, UI, HMI, Content, Motion, 3D designers, Design Producers, Researchers and Engineers to deliver exciting connected infotainment solutions that will enable new adventures and experiences for both the driver and passengers. In this design leadership role, you will be responsible for leading the team creating and defining the holistic infotainment user experience across our current and future consumer adventure vehicles.

Together with a team that values positivity, humility and humor – your designs will push the boundaries for what is possible today. Ideal candidates will have a combination of creative vision, collaboration and communication skills, & technical understanding to complement their creative spirit and interaction expertise. In this role, you will further build on your expertise of interaction & usability patterns, wireframing, visual fidelity & prototyping your designs to effectively communicate the product intent & design nuance to the cross-functional teams.

  • Generate design storyboards, user journeys, sketches & concepts, user flows, wireframes, micro-interactions & prototypes
  • Create detailed design documentation of your feature work for implementation
  • Collaborate with system engineers to define vehicle driving behavior and how it relates to the driver experience
  • Input into future electronics and hard controls requirements.
  • Partner with user researchers to gather consumer data, validate concepts, test prototypes & apply findings into you designs
  • Work closely with other team members including UI, HMI, Content, Research, UX Producers, Product Managers, Engineers to receive critical feedback and iterate to make the best possible product
