About the company:
Rivian is on a mission to keep the world adventurous forever. This goes for the emissions-free Electric Adventure Vehicles we build, and the curious, courageous souls we seek to attract.
As a company, we constantly challenge what’s possible, never simply accepting what has always been done. We reframe old problems, seek new solutions and operate comfortably in areas that are unknown. Our backgrounds are diverse, but our team shares a love of the outdoors and a desire to protect it for future generations.
Rivian is looking for a Principal User Experience (UX) Designer to work with a world class team of UX, UI, HMI, Content, Motion, 3D designers, Design Producers, Researchers and Engineers to deliver exciting connected infotainment solutions that will enable new adventures and experiences for both the driver and passengers. In this design leadership role, you will be responsible for leading the team creating and defining the holistic infotainment user experience across our current and future consumer adventure vehicles.
This role will shape the core infotainment UX across our Driver, Center, & Rear Displays and will focus on core application and interaction designs in the areas of media & entertainment, productivity, climate, profiles & personalization, voice assistant, gaming, and more. You will be shaping the next wave of innovation around these product experience areas, while bringing coherency and unity to the designs that span across the infotainment system. The work spans many forms and exists in many areas including first surface touch areas, applications, driver aid widget, vehicle settings, 3rd party services, etc. This is about designing end-to-end experiences, not just screens.
Together with a team that values positivity, humility and humor – your designs will push the boundaries for what is possible today. Ideal candidates will have a combination of creative vision, collaboration and communication skills, & technical understanding to complement their creative spirit and interaction expertise. In this role, you will further build on your expertise of interaction & usability patterns, wireframing, visual fidelity & prototyping your designs to effectively communicate the product intent & design nuance to the cross-functional teams.
