ICON is looking for a creative and resourceful PR specialist to join the communications and public affairs team. You’re passionate about communications and events. You have a keen eye for details and are eager to grow your skill set in media relations and communications strategies. You will be responsible for supporting the public relations, events and marcomm teams working across ICON’s high-visibility work as well as leading tactical PR execution plans as we 3D print homes on Earth, develop space-based construction systems for the Moon and partner with leading architects, designers, developers and organizations like NASA.This role reports to the Director of PR & Comms and is based on our Austin, TX campus.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support in execution of creative and impactful organization-wide public relations campaigns and events.
  • Develop media strategies and messaging for campaigns, products and announcements to increase awareness and deliver on KPIs.
  • Draft and distribute press releases, ranging from corporate news, partnerships, product announcements, and more on a regular cadence.
  • Develop strong relationships with cross functional teams internally and externally with key partners, clients, customers, VIPs and dignitaries.
  • Lead partner meetings and organize communication plans around projects or campaigns.
  • Work with the marcomm team to align asset needs with press announcements and campaigns.
  • Maintain strong relationships with media across print, online and broadcast.
  • Track target media and lead on keeping media lists updated across all ICON initiatives.
  • Draft and lead media pitches and story highlight points, source and organize assets to support pitches.
  • Prepare media or speaking materials to aid in preparing spokespeople.
  • Support in updating FAQs and aggregate queries on brand’s social media platforms.
  • ​​Monitor, report, and maintain media coverage results.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • 4+ years of relevant work experience, including examples of press stories secured on behalf of client or brand.
  • Passion for PR and events with strong understanding of best practices and ROI.
  • Strong media relations contacts across national business and consumer news.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines and budget time.
  • Ability to take initiative in response to direction from managers and feedback from peers
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong desire to learn and grow with professional drive and positive attitude.
  • Solutions-oriented and resourceful, ability to work independently and proactively.

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Experience in tracking and preparing press coverage reports and media analytics.
  • Ability to jump, pivot and tackle unexpected projects.
  • Familiarity with Cision media database for media coverage and media contacts.
  • Experience working with notable business/industry media, events and awards.
  • Professional degree in related fields.
  • In-house brand/corporate PR experience preferred.
  • Passionate or interested in Space, Technology and Innovation.
