Zoox’s System Design and Mission Assurance (SDMA) team constructs the Safety Case and validates that our vehicles are safe for autonomous driving. SDMA enables Zoox to rapidly iterate and safely expand capabilities through trustworthy, innovative, and pragmatic safety engineering. As a Platform System Vehicle Test Engineer at Zoox, you will be working as part of a multidisciplinary team to develop and test systems that enable and support our robotaxi, ensuring the safety and performance of the closed-loop drive system.
The Platform System Vehicle Test Engineer will have strong technical skills, and a deep understanding of functional safety technical solutions and verification techniques based on ISO 26262 or similar standards. You will be responsible for developing and executing vehicle-level testing for autonomous safety-critical systems.

In this role, you will:
Develop and execute the technical and logistical planning of vehicle tests including cross-functional coordination with other teams such as systems requirements, firmware, software motion controls, vehicle engineering, and operationsDesign efficient test programs to achieve test coverage of requirements and scenarios, drawing on simulation and analysis where possibleAnalyze system requirements to understand the safety conceptMaintain traceability between requirements, test cases, and resultsDesign, develop, and operate the Zoox Robot, test equipment, and instrumentation systemsTroubleshoot and debug issues in the field, and trace failures to correct subsystemsPerform test data analysis and report test results. Define and develop automated data extraction tools to streamline and continuously improve analysis and reporting.Qualifications
B.S. or higher degree in Automotive Engineering, Aerospace, Robotics, Electrical, Mechanical, or Systems Engineering3+ years of test engineering experience in the automobile, robotics, or aerospace industryUnderstanding of vehicle dynamics and vehicle drive and chassis systems (such as motors, brakes, and steering)Understanding of control theory and feedback control systemsConfident with automotive electronics and communication protocols (CAN, LIN, Ethernet)Proficiency with test scripting and data analysis languages such as Python or MatlabAnalytical skills and hands-on experienceBonus Qualifications
